    1650 ignition

I've had good luck with the pertronix conversion in my Mallory distributor. Just be sure to give the module in the distributor a full 12 volts from a switched power source. I ran a wire from my key switch. On the old Holley distributor I am currently experimenting with a conversion to the Ford...

    1850 PTO

I believe the clutch assembly is the same for either unit. When I rebuilt the PTO clutch in my 1850 I think the later ones use an extra friction disc and separator plate.

    Seat preference

Looking at buying a new seat for my 1650. I'm finding their are embossed seats and seats that are smooth? This is my planting tractor and I want to be as comfortable as possible, so I likely will be purchasing the 3-piece seat. Is their much difference between the two or are they both good...

    Oliver 1750 hydraulic pump

Both my 1650's have the aftermarket hydraulic pump. I could only guess how many hours I have on them, likely over 2000 between the two. If I remember correctly the aftermarket pump is a Parker. I'm happy with them

    1650 3-point

I'm disassembling the hydraulic on my 1650 to install a new pump. I removed the top cover off the hydraulic housing and discovered that the dash pot piston has popped out of its bore, the pin that limits the dash pot piston travel is also bent but the spring was still in place. What could cause...

Oliver 1650 vs Case Ih 950

Since I narrowed the tread for 30 inch row spacing it looks like the three point arms come very close to the tires and fenders now so I'll probably take them off on this tractor. Yes the marker arms have an electric control box with a three position switch.

    3 Speed Power Requirement

Should be 1/2 drill motor. We used this drill to power a patz silo unloader winch. Hang on tight if you have access to something similar.

    3 Speed Power Requirement

When I rebuilt the one in my 1850 I bench tested it with an old school (all metal case) 1/2 drill motor. Used PVC to connect the drill chuck to the input shaft.

Oliver 1650 vs Case Ih 950

The marker arms are controlled by single acting cylinders. I think your right I just need to try it out, problem is the wiring for the marker control box is all jacked up from the previous owner. Once I get that wiring fixed I'll give it try. I'm wondering also if I should set up one set of...

Oliver 1650 vs Case Ih 950

I bought a new to me case ih 950 planter, I'm planning to use my 1650 on this planter but the manual for the planter states to use the float position on the tractor hydraulic to get proper operation of the marker arms. Am I looking at setting up for power beyond and using a separate remote valve...

What a gem! Never seen a 2-70 front assist

    1650 Head Gasket Thickness

First factor I'd consider is piston to valve clearance. I've never been in a 283 Waukesha diesel so not sure how close this tolerance is from the factory? If it was me I'd probably mock together the engine (without the head gasket) and verify the piston/valve clearance with some Play-Doh...

    1650G Power Steering

That does seem excessive, but I notice that on mine also when driving down the road. In the field I never even think about it. I believe parts are available to convert to the char-lynn style steering motor under the dash. Pricey but may fix the issue.
