    1964 Case 430 rockshaft seals

I didn't need a ring compressor, mine has a chamfer machined in. Lube both the seal and the cylinder beforehand of course, with whatever you use for hydraulic fluid. I use the handle end of an Estwing hammer to tap them in, it's Nylon.

    1964 Case 430 rockshaft seals

Did that to my 611b a couple years ago. Looks to be the exact same setup, and John Saeli does indeed stock the part, and he's reasonably priced and very easy to deal with. Trick to getting it on the piston is lots of very warm slightly soapy water and even more patience. SEAL POINTS TOWARD...

Case VA (VAO) 12 volt wiring diagram

You are not going to find a wiring diagram for either what you have or what you want to set up, you're going to have to start from scratch and design it. I like your idea of new gauges, and from what I can see from your pics, I suggest all new switches and wires also. It should not be...

    1950 VA case

That is not horrible for a tractor that age. What is a "partial rebuild"? Does it stay the same idling and operating RPM? Same cold and warm? FWIW my '59 611B runs at 19.

    OT- 6/12 v meter

Those inductive voltage sensors for 120V house wiring actually sense changes in magnetic fields, not voltage, and do not work on DC. Nobody can make such a thing for 6 or 12 volt DC circuits.

    Compression Test / VAC

I do almost all my compression tests with a simple push-in "cone" gauge. What you are looking for is not an exact number, but look in the manual for a ballpark. Make sure you check with a good strong charged battery and starter, choke & throttle both wide open, crank until gauge quits going...

    No spark

That isn't a Mopar motor, is it? I recall that happening to some Chrysler V8s 40 or 50 years ago.

    No spark

True but my point is--always check the basics first. I once had an International Scout with a gear-to-gear cam, the cam bearings gave up just before the gears did. Is the distributor cam turning and opening the points here?

    No spark

Had a "mechanic" I worked with once, he had a small-block Chevy with no spark, an HEI model with the coil and all built into the distributor. He'd replaced every part in the distributor and still no spark. I suggested he make sure the distributor was turning, and sure enough, that silly...

    Electronic Ignition

I have just recently bought a CDI kit from Velleman via Amazon, I've built the kit but it's going to be awhile before I install it--maybe until the 611b won't start! The CDI kit has the advantage of using the stock points, just disconnect the condenser. It puts such a minute amount of power...

Torque spec for rear tire bolts 530 backhoe

You're kidding, right? 1/4-turn before they snap off.

    frosty carb

As the others said, it's normal, happens to almost anything with a carb. This is why the exhaust manifold is connected to the intake manifold, so the exhaust heat can warm the intake. This process can be sped up by shutting off the engine for a few minutes after the exhaust has heated up...

    What a surprise

Chuck, the primer and paint on the tanks won't make much difference, but I'd use the rad paint on the fins. You do want some sort of anti-corrosion coating on the fins and tubes. Also, I'd rework that overflow tube before I painted it. Careful of the cap, IIRC my 611b takes a 4psi cap, a...

    Ignition points and condenser question?

I am in the process of converting my 611b to a capacitive discharge system, uses the original points without a condenser. I bought a Vellemann kit, about $30 I think it was, built it and then had some health problems. I'm just now getting to where I can get up on the tractor, working on it is...

Got a new carb on my 220 yesterday

Jon, I stopped putting those on the golf carts I work on these days because I could never get them to run just right. It's easy to sell a $50 carb when the OEM one is $300 or better, but you wind up losing money about the second time the customer comes back complaining that it won't run the way...
