MF250 power steering - no assistance

So I spent all morning. Jacked up the front end turned left/right many, many times, topped up. No sign of any bubbles. Still no assistance. Installed a t-port on the power side straight from the pump, got no more than 100psi at 2000rpm.this is a brand new pump. So put the old pump back on...

MF250 power steering - no assistance

Thanks, I have bled the system, but will check again, cos' you never know. I've also obtained a T fitting (test port) and a gauge - so checking the output of the pump will be my next step.

MF250 power steering - no assistance

You need arms like a gorilla to steer. It has never worked consistently. I have a loader so this is getting to be a right pain. 1982 MF250 4600+ hours. So far... New Steering Rams (the were leaking and rusted so I could not open them up) New 'o' rings on the control valve New pins and control...

    Compression down on one cylinder

So, to round off this thread. I replaced the fuel filters and also cleaned out the lift pump. It's all working now. The power is pretty good, no bogging down and consistent revs. Thanks to all that made suggestions and helped. I think it was a collection of issues - compression and fuel...

    Compression down on one cylinder

I have spent the last few days stripping it down to check a few things out - replaced the fuel strainer in the tank, cleaned the strainer in the fuel pump, cleaned the injectors (had them tested and reset a few months ago), checked the valve clearances, did a compression test (380psi), removed...

    Compression down on one cylinder

OK, so the fuel tank is off again. Just re-checked compression and 1 & 2 are both 360psi, 3 is still a little down at 340psi. I can't imagine that would be the issue though. The gouge in the injector hole is still there. There was no blow-back from the dipstick and no oil coming from the...

    Compression down on one cylinder

Back again. So I relapped all of the valves and used water and air to check the seal. No bubbles so they are now sealing well. I have the injectors serviced and re assembled. When I tested the compression, cyl 3 was still down compared to the other 2 but the diference was less than 10%. The...

    Compression down on one cylinder

Just checked the liner for cyl 3, completely smooth.

    Compression down on one cylinder

I am going to have a go at re-lapping both valves and try to rotate the crank to see what the cylinder looks like.

Most appropriate size flail for an MF250

I think I was hoping for a 6ft. There is a 2.7m (9ft) one for sale near me and I reckon that might be too much for it. I will mostly be for renovating a fallow field - lots of bracken, bramble and rush.

    Compression down on one cylinder

I've removed the head. The suspect cylinder is on the right. Wetter than the other two with more carbon build up on the valves. Poor seal on the valves causing low compression and unburnt fuel? What do you think?

Most appropriate size flail for an MF250

As per the title. I have an MF250 (40hp on the PTO). I am look for a second-hand flail. What width would be the most appropriate? Anyone will real-world experience of running a flail on the back of this tractor? Cheers, Rich.

    Compression down on one cylinder

Only replacing it because the thread for the fuel line has been stripped. So unless I can just get hold of a cap, I'll have to buy a new one.

    Compression down on one cylinder

Do I need to replace all 3 injectors, or can they be replaced individually? When I put injector 3 back in to test for blowback, the thread for the banjo bolt on the top of the injector stripped - I didn't tighten it very much at all. :-( barely hand tight, so I wonder if the previous owner had...

Yes I do. What do you mean? What should I expect to see?
