    Ford 860 Minimalist Wiring Diagram

Hi all, Just getting back to messing around with my Ford 860. The tractor runs well for what little I've ran it but every now and then it just up and dies (I think I posted about this last year and I think the switch came up as a potential culprit). I know there are a lot of diagrams out...

Tractor won't stay running - electrical

Thanks. Ordered the 40511, will remove the resistor, install the coil and go from there.

Tractor won't stay running - electrical

Disregard question #1. Did some more checking and looks like using that coil for points is not only a waste of money but can also burn up the points. So would only go to that one when I switch to EI.

3 cont.: Is the 10SI one that would work for this?

Tractor won't stay running - electrical

    1. Is that Pertronix coil + removing the white resistor a good combo? And staying with the existing points for a little while. 2. For temp testing can I take the coil from my 85 F350, remove the white resistor and see if the tractor stays running? 3. I believe the numbers on my alternator...

Tractor won't stay running - electrical

You're correct - I looked again and it doesn't go to the solenoid. It goes into a harness that goes somewhere (undoubtedly the switch like you said) I took the coil off and it says: 29690 For Use WITH an external resister. I don't have EI yet. Would it make sense to get a 12v coil that...

Tractor won't stay running - electrical

Ford 860 Was converted to 12v at some point Alternator says 12V NEG So... The battery box was rusted out so bought a new one. Replaced it and while I did, I swapped the red and black battery cables to actually be red +, black -. Also rotated the battery. I hooked it back up but...

Fence Post / Utility Pole Attachment - What is this?

Thanks guys! Figured someone here would have seen one of these in a past or present life.

Fence Post / Utility Pole Attachment - What is this?

Walking through the woods the other day and came across an old gate opening. This pipe (photo) was attached to one gate post. The top comes off and there are two capped off valve stems fixed to the top of the pipe in a hexagonal plug filling the pipe that prevents them from falling down. I have...

IBeam vs Tube for Gantry Crane Stilts

Agreed. I am thinking no matter what I'll anchor at the top point and have a removable chain+boomer at the second point. Again so it would let me drive through, chain, lift, drive out under the chain. Once assembled if I feel like it needs more I can pour another pad, weld the hypotenuse to the...

IBeam vs Tube for Gantry Crane Stilts

You are describing what I mentioned earlier, correct? About the reinforcement pipe/tube/web on the outside edge of the vertical extension the would continue in the same path as the existing angled legs? With all of these options, which is best in your opinion? Core vs ibeam (with...

IBeam vs Tube for Gantry Crane Stilts

Just remembered - if using the cores, what are your thoughts on leaving them hollow vs filling them with concrete before welding the top plate on?

IBeam vs Tube for Gantry Crane Stilts

Gotcha. Yeah, we have plenty of those things around. Appreciate all of the input. Sounds like a plan I can proceed with.
