    I don't believe there is a differential on those. The axle is one piece all the way through. There are cogs in the hubs to drive while allowing slack for turns. Since that model has a reverse, there are cogs for BOTH directions. I wouldn't worry too much about the gap. Pull the hubs and...

    OK, Are the "X" braces near the bottom of the handles factory or a home-brewed add-on? Never seen a Simplicity with that "X" brace. The shift levers and rest of the handlebars look like early Simplicity for sure.

    Too many factors to answer your question. Some engines, like the Kohler KT17 series 1 have ZERO tolerance for side hills. Other engines do better. You could always overfill the oil to help but the steeper the angle the more risk involved. Best of luck!
