    Radiator Cap for Farmall BN

Just wondering if anyone has had good or bad luck with any of the radiator caps listed online? My tractor has the original non-pressurized radiator. I believe the original part number was 43983D. I did replace it a few years back but don't think it sealed perfect even when new, but lately just...

Question bout my 40 B Farmall

A better idea of why you feel the clutch needs adjusting might help. Not finding any problem with the suggestions but some back ground on the condition of the tractor would be nice!

    F-20 stuck pistons.

I understand better now! Seeing that picture and also looking at another site about the F-20.

    F-20 stuck pistons.

Let me get this straight, on these engines the piston has to be installed from the bottom of the cylinder? So one must remove the crank from the block to take a piston out? I worked on a wide range of engines, most diesels, I'm having a problem thinking of an engine like that. But not saying it...

    F-20 stuck pistons.

Not familiar with a F-20 so my question would be does this engine have wet sleeves? If so I would be thinking about pulling the sleeves out with the pistons still in them. Then try to push them down and out the bottom of the sleeves.

Finally spit tractor to get to stuck clutch - what is the consensus here?

No idea how much you will be using this tractor or for what, but I put a new clutch in my BN something like 25 or 30 years ago and using it to mow around 10 acres of grass and for other stuff and it's still working good. Heck it will most likely out last me by a few years! Do it right and be...

Any recommendations on used parts dealers?

This starter has worked good for a year or so. I did have to modify the rod a little to make it work. Now that I put the switch off the original starter on it still functions a little odd but at least the original switch is made better than the one on the India made starter. Actually almost...

Any recommendations on used parts dealers?

I'm pretty sure I ordered the starter from the link at the top of this sites page and notice that they have two listings for the starter that are confusing as both say models A, B, C, Super A, Super C. and when I click on either one I am sent to the same page.

Any recommendations on used parts dealers?

Well did a little more work on the BN with the starter problem. Seems the biggest problem is/was the switch on top of it. This starter is a Made in India version of the original starter with the main difference being where the switch is mounted. The original starter had the switch close to the...

Any recommendations on used parts dealers?

I give it another look later today. This BN has been using a 12 volt battery and a Delco alternator for over 25 years. I do have it on a trickle charger for a couple days so should be charged up and temps here are now in the low 40's. I'll report back probably after noon.

Any recommendations on used parts dealers?

Well thing is I did buy a new starter that was made in some unknown place and the switch is positioned so I had to change how my lever worked it. It did work last year but when I tried to start tractor last week it only cranked good for a little time and I think it might of failed. I'll try it...

Any recommendations on used parts dealers?

Have a Farmall BN an just wondering if anyone could recommend anyone they have dealt with for used parts that would ship to central NY? Right now think I might be needing a starter.

    Farmall A Belt drive gasket?

I might be tempted to use a thin coat of RTV or some other kind of sealant like #3 permatex on the shims. Actually been so many years since I rebuilt my BN (something like 30 or more years) don't recall what I used!

    First BN

I have a BN that I mounted a 72 inch Woods mower deck on something like 30 years ago, still use it today! Bought it July of 1977. Did a complete rebuild on it winter of 1985-86.

    Farmall B ammeter wiring

Well my BN was converted to 12V neg ground something like 20 years or more back. A couple reasons for doing that. First the 6 volt battery was going dead and the generator was also on the way out and last was I had access to a free (used)12 volt Delco alternator with built in regulator. So...
