    Rocker Arms TE20

Thanks for the reply. I am starting to think I wont have much oil up there either. When we rebuilt the motor and took the valve cover off, there wasn't a lot of oil sitting around. It was oiled just not a lot. Sounds like we will be ok with the set up we have. It has been that way for at...

    Rocker Arms TE20

The rocker shaft was never fully taken apart during rebuild. Also, we verified that the oil ports all line up from the block all the way through to the rockers. I think I will shoot a little oil on the rockers and fire it up. I also have a phone call into a friend that has a hand oil pump...

    Rocker Arms TE20

I struggled with the idea of cranking to verify oil at top of motor. All in all it hasn't cranked for more than 15 seconds in about 5 attempts. We have oil pressure on gauge so I think we need to go for it! I would hate to damage the newly built motor just because of being too cautious! Time...

    Rocker Arms TE20

To be honest, I did not notice what they are made of. It has been running this way for atleast 30 years since my great grandfather overhauled the engine. Maybe it isn't a big deal but I wanted to run it by everybody before we commited to starting this thing up.

    Rocker Arms TE20

My chance to show my rookie knowledge on the TE 20 motor... 1) While checking everything over on our TE20 and getting ready to fire it up, we realized that it looks like one of the rockers doesn't have an oiler on it? All of the other ones either have a small hole in the top or bottom or both...

Air Cleaner To Carb Question TE20

Interesting. I did not know they had such a thing. It was another person that was having trouble with fuel boiling. We haven't started out new motor yet. I know for the last 20+ years our TE20 didn't have the shield on it. Not to say it didn't originally. Thanks for the info. I will for...

Air Cleaner To Carb Question TE20

No our tractor does not have an exhaust shield over the manifold. I am not sure I have seen a TE20 with a shield over the manifold. I checked my parts manual and it does not call for one that I can see. Anybody else have any input on this? Thanks for the concern.

Air Cleaner To Carb Question TE20

That would be really appreciated if you could check it for me. I looked at the parts manual but didn't really see what I thought I would. Thanks for the help!

Air Cleaner To Carb Question TE20

I know what you mean by checking the old air cleaner mesh. Ours was completely plugged top to bottom. Looked like someone tried to dig it out with a screwdriver or something because the mesh was pretty much destroyed. We ended up drilling out the small spot welds so we could pull the old mesh...

Air Cleaner To Carb Question TE20

I suppose your right. The carb and the exhaust are just about inline with each other. The previous owner just kind of crammed it all on there but I would like it to look a little nicer! I will figure something out. I am thinking of going to a muffler shop and having them bend me some pipe to...

Air Cleaner To Carb Question TE20

Does anyone have or know of a source for the "Tube, Cleaner to Carb" for 1948 TE20? Part number 825-612 M1. Below are pics of what it used to look like. Plus, now that we are about done with the restore we want it to look right and not cobbled up! Do any of you have pictures of how your air...

    New Rebuild Start Up Questions

Wow, thank you every body for explaining how you have done things. It is always good to get other ideas as you go! I know that the motor is assembled with assembly lube so we should not have a full "dry start" but I will for sure make sure we get oil all the way to the top before officially...

    New Rebuild Start Up Questions

Steve, Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of getting oil to as many places as possible before the initial firing. I have an idea as to how to set the timing close enough to get it running but would you be willing to describe your steps of "setting the static spark"? I would be interested...

    New Rebuild Start Up Questions

Thank you for the kind words Charles. It is clean in side and out and I think we are of the same thought of using the best materials we can. After all the work and money we have put into this, I don't want to cut corners on the last step! By the way. The attached pic is one I took the first...
