49 Running after sitting for 8 years

Loaders are a sweet an sour thing; very useful but make it very hard to steer, compact your soils with the skinny front tires with all that weight on them and are hard on all the front end components. Plus all the loader framework makes it hard to reach the front distributor, battery, oil change...

49 Running after sitting for 8 years

Had to put tranny fluid in #2 cylinder to free up stuck valve, new coil, key ignition, starter solenoid, battery, and front tire. Had to bend the TSC points bracket to align contacts. After started and burning off the tranny fluid changed the oil. She runs great. Loader hydraulics acted like...

    Fly wheel teeth

Just rebuilt my starter and before bolting it back on thought it would be a good idea to look at the condition of the fly wheel. The starter still doesn't engage like it should making a whining noise more than turning over the engine. The starter bendix was in good shape. It appears that the...

Doesn't make sense how the gas got in there. It'sFirst thoughts that someone sabotaged it. The tractor sits in a barn where we are away...

    IH656 Fire

Its easy to imagine the jerryrigged fuel tank lid funneling fuel vapors down the insides of the hood, but not the actual gas. There was a good flow of gas onto the gravel which left a burning trail 50' long.

    IH656 Fire

Had quite a scare yesterday afternoon just after starting our 1971 IH656 gas tractor in the barn. Put it in reverse to back it out of the barn and flames just shot up several feet on both sides of the hood. I immediately jumped off and got the heck out of there. Fortunately it slowly backed out...
