    Thawing Pipes with a Welder

This is what my father and I used to thaw out water pipes when I was a Kid. This was back in the 1950's and 60's. This welder still is in use today. very reliable.

    Kohler engine up-date

Problem solved. The new carb had a vacuum accelerator which provided a rich mixture. There are two types of carbs for the GT5000. I put the other carb without the vacuum accelerator on and the engine runs great. No more bogging down under load and more hours on a tank of gas. I wasn't aware...

    Kohler engine bogging down

One more thing, the engine blows black smoke when it bogs down. I always thought that meant it is running too rich. So maybe the gasket is leaking like you suggested. Thanks again.

    Kohler engine bogging down

Thanks Bob. I will try that and check the gasket as well. I guess letting the engine warm up real good could help, Kholers are known to be cold blooded.

    Kohler engine bogging down

Not sure if it is an OEM or a cheap knock off. Got the carb off the Sears parts site since the tractor is a Craftsman GT5000.

    Kohler engine bogging down

New blades on the mowing deck and the electrical pto assembly is about three years old. All the pulleys are good and spin freely. All the belts are good also, no cracks or fraying. Spark plugs and wires are new, so is the starter assembly. The tractor didi not have this problem until the new...

    Kohler engine bogging down

The pto is the electrical engagement for the mower deck. Is it possible there might be an electrical draw or short when the pto is engaged that may affect the charging system of the engine ? This in turn may cause the plugs to not get good spark. The battery is good shape and the ignition is...

    Kohler engine bogging down

I have a Craftsman GT5000 garden tractor. 26 h.p. kohler command engine. The engine has a new carb.as of last week along with new plugs air filter etc. Engine runs fine but bogs down when the mower pto is engaged. Mechanic readjusted the carb and checked all the needle valves. Tested again...

    Sharpen bush hog blades??

I mowed for the Kent County Airport. We had about 2,000 acres to mow. The sharper the better when it comes to just grass or tall weeds. When actual brush is involved a little duller seems better. We always used a 7 1/2" portable grinder to keep our blades sharp. I used a 15 ft. Bat Wing on the...

    Naa Jubilee remote hyd valve

That picture is actually from my 1954 NAA. The valve worked fine for me and the three point worked fine also when I had a back blade on it. I believe there was an "o" ring kit that I purchased to fit the two big holes you mentioned. I have since sold this tractor about four years ago and the...

Where to get Oliver Parts .

Thank you guys for the info. I will pass it on to my friend. His tractor seems to be kinda rare in as much the hydraulic belly blade is factory made by Oliver. The tractor was a County Road Commission tractor and was used to grade the gravel roads in Newaygo County, Michigan. The tractor is...

Where to get Oliver Parts .

A friend of mine just bought a 1942 Oliver 60 Standard with a hydraulic belly blade. It is a cool machine and operates well. He just wondered where to get parts for this tractor when the need arises. He may need some rear wheel rims in the future. The present ones are home made and have large...
