Re: 430 starter problems
My 430 has had starter lockup problems for years. I don't know how many times I've had to loosen the mounting bolts to free it up. Perhaps this is the problem with your starter. It would act like a dead short.- lfn

jump starting a positive to ground system
First attach the positive and negative cables to the respective positive and negative posts of the Ford, then attach the black (negative)jumper cable end to the negative post on the JD, which of course has the large round insulated cable going to starter. How can I get these hubs off?
I worked in an set-up shop for 20 years and never failed to get a hub loose. The method I figured out is to tighten the wedge loosen bolts as much as possibe and smack the side (not the end) of the Axle (not the hub) with a sledge a few times and retighten, repeat the process several times be...- lfn

You Say "I removed the lower lines on the bucket cylinders and put plugs in the cyls and lifted the loader and it stayed up". would still not be a test as one good cyl and one bad cyl would still hold the bucket up because you closed off both and the good cyl would hold it up.
