Engine speed on 715 ih gas

You are probably right. The term used in the book is "cylinder beater" and I assumed that was the cylinder. Thanks for helping to clear that up for me.

Engine speed on 715 ih gas

The manual says to set the engine RPM so the beater runs at 552 RPM but I have a belt drive beater with a variable speed. Under specifications in the back of the manual it lists the governed speed (fast idle) (no load) as 2600+- 30 RPM and the horsepower rating at 107 HP at 2400 RPM. What...

    Farmall Super A cultivating corn

A quick calculation figuring 38 inch rows moving at 3 mph and 85 percent of your time spent with the cultivator in the ground gives about 1 acre per hour. That is pretty fast for small corn. If you do it for any number of days, you will see corn in your sleep.

    4010 high speed miss solved

I would like to thank everyone who helped me with this problem. This is a link to the original post http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=jd&th=512516 I did check out your suggestions, but in the end, a rebuilt distributor solved the problem. Sorry it took so long to fix the...

    Allis C lubrication

I have a C that melted a lower connecting rod bearing. Are there holes up by the cam that drip oil to lube these? Is there anything I should look at while the engine is out of the tractor to avoid having this happen again? Thanks

4010 gas with a high speed miss

I switched coils with my 3010. Both use 6V coils with ballast on the switch. Both coils are fine on the 3010. I intend to look at the valves and springs next. I will also try to power the Pertronix unit straight from the battery. I know that it should be wired that way, but John Deere...

4010 gas with a high speed miss

Only one unit failed. It was in the tractor for almost 19 years. The two I installed since then I believe to be good units because switching one for the other gave the same results.

4010 gas with a high speed miss

This tractor has had a pertronics unit on it for almost 20 years. Last year I had to replace it, and it ran fine till a couple of days ago, then I replaced that one(have a spare now). The side to side play in the shaft is about 7 thousandths. I'll try moving up the unit to see what happens...

4010 gas with a high speed miss

My 4010 runs well at lower RPMs but misses from about 1500 on up. It has a pertronics ignition unit in it that I replaced, along with the cap, rotor, and plugs. I also checked the plug wires with an OHM meter, switched in a known good coil, and opened up the carb looking for dirt in the...

    Kids want to ride

If you let kids that young ride with you, they will come running toward you every time you start the tractor. It greatly increases your chances of not seeing them and ... Happens with cars all the time, too. Mom tries to go to town without kids. They hear the car start and run to get in.

Return line on belly pump system

If you put the return on the top, wouldn't it just suck air after it emptied the first time? Maybe the place to go is the drain plug at the bottom?

    kit for 715 ih carb

I need to replace the float valve in the carb of my 715 combine. The number of the carb doesn't seem to match any rebuild kits. As close as I can tell, it is 534832R91. Anyone know how to locate a needle and seat for this carb? thanks

    Steeped head pistons

What would you do if you found the clearances to be too small? Could you use two head gaskets, or would you try to grind off the piston to fit? Just curious. Thanks
