    Overheating

Perhaps I missed it but have you checked that the Radiator is not blocked on the outside. Mine ran OK for 65 years before overheating, but when I checked the Radiator Fins I found enough grains and seeds to plant a 1/2 acre. I borrowed the wife's vacuum cleaner and GENTLY with a thin piece...

    TO20 starter wiring

A common problem with the 6 volt systems is very sluggish turnover, no matter how full charged the battery is! It is this that leads people to experiment in an effort to get more reliable starting. However the simplest solution is to move the battery earth from its normal position on the...

    TEA20

Have you checked that the radiator is not blocked EXTERNALLY. I had a minor overheating problem and when I checked between the fins of the radiator there was 65 years of dried mud, dead flies and insects and enough wheat seed to plant half an acre. Now that I've spent a hour cleaning it out...

    TEA20 starting after 5 years.

I take it that your mention of Hydraulic was a 'slip of the tong' or the keyboard? You're not putting hydraulic oil in the read end are you? The rear oil 'sump' or bath' or whatever you call it is common to the gearbox and transmission as well as the hydraulics and needs ENGINE oil.

    TEA20

Absolutely NOT hydraulic oil. The Gearbox, Hydraulics and rear axle share a common oil bath, about 6 galls, and the gears and transmission would not like it. Use good quality multi-grade engine oil but don't mix different types. I use the original mineral oil recommended for vintage vehicles...

    TEA20 starting after 5 years.

Most likely causes of not starting is no spark or no petrol, or both. If you have petrol but no spark you will normally smell the un-burnt petrol and the plugs may be wet with petrol. If this is the case and you had all the plug leads off did you get them back in the right order? I think, from...

1958 TO-35 that followed me home

Very Nice, lucky old you. The only things that ever follow me home are covered in fleas, have mange and smell really bad. It must be the company I keep! Leslie

Need Help- TE-20 will not start.

For what it worth I suspect a fuel problem. If you are cranking the engine and its not starting you should smell the unburnt petrol and most likely the plugs will be wet. You say you have a spark, so even with low compression or faulty timing it should at least make an effort to fart and...

Ferguson tea20 STARTER MOTOR problems etc HELP!!

As others have suggested it could be an earthing problem which would account for BOTH problems. The Bendix gear is forced forward to engage with the flywheel ring gear by centrifugal force as the starter motor accelerates to full speed. If you have an earth problem the motor may not be getting...

    breeding fergie

I think it’s something to do with the smell of an old engine, perhaps they give of pheromones? In fact I’m pretty sure that that’s the case as it seems to affect males more than females. I got one for my last Birthday and already feel the urge to have another one for my next Birthday. Strange...

Hi all and hello from Co. Down

Not quite sure what it is about the way I phrase things that triggers the spam trap. In the previous post I had referred to a man's bottom as a small equine animal and it apparently did not like

Hi all and hello from Co. Down

I'll email you as mentioning names or details seems to activate the spam trap. Probably frowned upon by T20 purists who claim that in the old days men where made of sterner stuff and didn't need cushions to protect their bottoms.

Hi all and hello from Co. Down

Can't say I know Sam, but around here its difficult to find a house that does not have a tractor of some description in the yard. The local Vintage Fair is being held in the village of Dromara, about 4 miles away, and I hope to attend with "George" and I will mention his name. I don't expect to...
