Greg and Husker, I don't have alot of experience around the selecto speed models, but own a 63 4000 that was swapped out to a 5 speed. I asked about the lack of brake locks on it and was told the selecto speeds didn't have them. So I based my thoughts on his opinion, probably not a good idea... -

When I saw it, I assumed the same thing that the 4 speed was swapped in also, but there is gold paint on the transmission case and I believe on the sherman shift lever. I'll have it back in the shop next week, had to move it out for another job, and I'll look closer. -

Bern, That was my understanding also. I've spent a few hours tonight researching it, and I'm finding that was the case at first, as the idea was to push the new SOS tranny, but later on, dealers were allowed to order gear shift models too. But I don't always believe what I read on the internet... -

Ford one arm loader fitment?
Doc, Just mounted a one armed loader on a 4 cylinder 4000, same as the 860. Should be a simple bolt up. Brackets are the same for the 600/601-800/801 series. 900/901 series used different mounting brackets. Different brackets for the Jubilee/NAA, and the 8N's. Tractordad3, Don't worry about taking over the post, I appreciate your interest. Just used a cheap HVLP spray gun, you can pick them up relatively cheap at Fleet Farm or places like Harbor Freight. A small compressor with a filter/regulator is all you will need and the results are worth it... -

Tractordad3, I sure would. I painted it myself outside this fall. I used to paint in the shop, but as I get older the overspray gets everywhere, even with a makeshift spray booth.
