Yea sir. Screwed in a good ways before even getting to 10-15 ft lbs. Edge of bolt is almost flush with edge of locknut.

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

I see that in the troubleshooting chart of the I&T manual. But I do in fact have 9th now. I now have a slight noise in 4th that goes away at 5th through 8th and returns at 9th. Sort of like a hydraulic motor whine. Band 3 bolt barely wants to turn in, but turns out easier. I didn't do any...

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

Tightened up Band 2 and now have 5-9. Feels like the adjustment screw is all the way if that is such a thing. Screw doesn't go in anymore at least.

    Bringing Back The Jubilee

Beautiful job. I have my grandfather's Jubilee that I grew up on and what I learned to square bale hay with. I am torn between a full resto or leave it as is in all it's glory. I put it in a parade in 2019 and I as the only Ford tractor which at the time it was my only one. Now I have a 981 SOS...

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

For now I will do band adjustments and see what changes, if anything. I'm not by the tractor, but are the PSI test ports 1/8" NPT?

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

312259 is the casting numbers. Serial number of this tractor is 111723 which would be 1960 and 981-5. This is only the 3rd time I've driven the tractor since I got it. Bought it in 2019 and picked it up early 2020. Sat in my shed until a few months ago when I started working on it. Got it...

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

Confirmed 1-4 work. No 5-9. The only thing I did do last time I used it was shift to P. I had never shifted to P before. When shifting back down, when I get to 4 I can feel and hear a clunk and tractor rocks forward.

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

I'd have e to count again to make sure, but certain it is 1-4 or 1-5 good. For certain 6-9 does not work. 9 has the most catch when letting off the pinching pedal, but feels to "let go". 6-8 has a slight nudge when letting off the pinching pedal, but very minimal. 10 does work. R1 and I just...

    Ford 981-5 SOS Question

Hello Everyone, I have a 981-5 SOS tractor that I have been working on. Got the carburetor cleaned and ran the tractor. Had all gear. Tractor started sputtering and needing the choke so I pulled it into the shop. Found 2 pinholes in the float. New float now and rebuilt the carburetor too...

International 674 Lift Arms Stay Up

Unfortunately, this tractor will not be a simple fix. The spool for position is suspected to be stuck in the raise position. The spool is supposed to have spring tension on the clevis. This tractor has no spring tension, thus meaning the spool is stuck in. Also, the lift arms falling over time...

International 674 Lift Arms Stay Up

Hi everyone. I have an older IH 674 that the lift arms will raise once the tractor starts no mater where the position lever is. Arms raise to max and then hear hissing. Move position lever and arms don't lower until hours after the engine is shut off. I've also moved the draft lever up and down...
