    New Holland Knotter Troubleshooting Guide

I've replaced the twine holder. I got a new disc from cottage craft works but it doesn't fit so I'll have to return it. The shaft is too short so the gear/pin won't go on. Comparing the notches in the twine disc and the spacing between the discs, mine actually doesn't seem that bad, and it is in...

Is there a way to replace the rivet pin with a bolt? The manual mentions a special slotted head stud or cap screw?

    New Holland Knotter Troubleshooting Guide

I'm thinking I'll replace the twine disc and the twine holder and the pin that the twine holder rotates on. There's some slop in it, nothing more that the other knotter, but maybe this one is more sensitive. I will replace the hay dog spring. I think that's probably why it slides off the bill hook.

    New Holland Knotter Troubleshooting Guide

It made two bales right away. But then it slipped out of the twine discs. Think the bale chamber tension was too high. But at this point I'm kind of out of ideas.

    New Holland Knotter Troubleshooting Guide

So I was messing around with baler. 1) the twine routinely falls off the billhook. I think this *may* be from small loads during the plunges. The tension release tension release cycle works it down the bill hook. It some what relented by increasing tension at twine box. 2) I was able to get a...

    New Holland Knotter Troubleshooting Guide

The pin holding the spring on my hay dog is rusted frozen into the slot. There's no good way for my to really bang on it to get it out. I'll try a lot of heat. Was hoping somebody had a wiz-bang solution. The twine, before the knot cycle is even tripped, slips off the tip of the billhook...

    New Holland Knotter Troubleshooting Guide

Sorry, All. Yes New Holland, rightside knotter, the one by the twine bin, there is a knot in the twine brought up by the needle, but not in the one on top of the bale. It's 100% of the time, I'm using Sisal twine. When I'm totally stumped, I usually start changing things until the problem...

Planting small amounts with John Deere 494

I was hoping this would be the answer. I think Maxwell house still does metal. I'll have to check the diameter. I could probably design something and get a buddy of mine to 3D print a little ramp in there. I could also put by 8 and 4 year oolds kids to work for once following me. I do...

Planting small amounts with John Deere 494

I suppose that's true. But I'm not at the favorite seed point. But once I know what I want to plant every year that could be a good solution. Just starting the farming gig.

Not much of a solution. Unless you know where I can get sweet corn seed at a better price. Or sugar pea at less than $40/lb?

Planting small amounts with John Deere 494

Hey guys. Looking for ideas or comments. I have a jd494a plate type planter. I'm planting pretty small amounts with it. Talking 500 seeds per row. Planted peas with it this morning. And it did great. Only issue is when it gets down to only a few (~100 or so) seeds left in the container, they...
