    Check the rotor and cap for carbon tracking. I had a bad rotor once that wouldn't fire the plugs under compression, carbon tracking on the cap is usually easier to see. I also had new plugs that were bad, not that I have any thing against champion, pulled the plugs out of a tractor that ran...

    Could also be a broken tooth on the brake gear as well as the bull gear. Pull the brake and jack up the wheel so you can spin it while looking inside. The little camera probes that hook to the phone work great

    Can you put a little shim washer on one or the other to match it up closer? That said, I've seen them run fine half off each other.

    Is the oil pump turning, or is the coupler broken? Water in the bottom of the crankcase could have froze and broke it on startup

    Are the rocker arms flat? Sometimes they wear a dish in the end. When that happens, I've had good luck with just running them down til they touch and backing them off 3/4 of a turn. Bearing in mind that they aren't real quiet to begin with.

    We always used the coil tine because the rubber tines would degrade in the sun and end up in tires. The old oem rubber tines held up better, or so it seems.

    My experience with that is 'sometimes '. You may have to switch out the nose cone and end bushing as well.

    Brother had geese that would go around and gobble down any nuts or bolts they could reach. Dang near had goose for supper one day just to get the bolts back when working on the spreader!
