    wd45 cutout switch

    put a voltage regulator on today, with a new ammeter, and so far so good. I guess the vr kicks in has needed to regulate the voltage. Mark

    The genny field wire is not hooked to the light switch. Which post does it hook up to? Not sure if the 3 way switch works, but it would be worth a try. Thanks

    the light switch c/o has been bypassed. All there is is the gen and the c/o switch mounted on the genny. Would I be better off putting a 12 volt regulator on and get rid of the c/o altogether? Mark

    finally got the generator charging. needed a good ground. Generator has a cutout switch, not a regulator has originally thought. The co charges until i rev up the motor, then it kicks out. What will cause the points to close to keep the bat charges? Seems the points remain closed until the motor...

    It is a gas engine. it has been basically switched over to 12 volt.the batt.,coil, and voltage reg. are 12 volt. Has for the gen., Not sure, but I assume it is a 12 volt also. Still pos. ground. The cut out thru the light switch has been bypassed totally by the vr. Hope this helps.

    after trying several of the checks, I still don't find the problem. I've still got voltage on both sides of the ammeter, and 13.5 v out of the vr. I took the top off the vr, and see points. Is this just a cutout switch or a vr? The c/o thru the light switch has all been bypassed, so i'm sure the...

    I beleive it would be the bat side of the vr. What's got me puzzled is the lack of charge or discharge showing on the guage.

    I"ve got 14 volts out of the voltage regulator, 12+ on each side of the amp guage,but needle won"t move, tried a different guage, same result. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    If I just took the cover off the wd-complete with the shifter, forks, rails etc would it work on the 45?
