    back pack sprayers

Last year I bought a DeWalt hand pump backpack sprayer from HD and I've been very happy with it. What I like about it is you can put just a small amount of liquid in it and not have to do a lot of pumping because you're just pressurizing a small reservoir in the tank, not the whole take. My...

    Over heating

A word of caution if you decide to change the thermostat: Since it's mounted vertically, it will tend to slip down out of its groove. This can result in a broken housing when you tighten the housing bolts. Use a piece of fishing line to hold it up while you tighten the bolts.

    Over heating

I posted before checking the proofmeter on my tractor. 545 PTO rpm is about 1750 engine rpm.

    Over heating

I suspect you'll be fine if you just keep your rpms above 2000 and stay in second gear. Boilover is not uncommon when you shut down a hot engine without letting it idle for a minute or two.

    Add air-valve at bottom

I think the main reason for adding air when the valve stem is high is to prevent ballast from getting into the valve stem. I don't think you'll have any problem adding air, but you may find the stem leaks or is stuck closed after you do. No problem, it's easy enough to replace the valve stem...

    Over heating

Probably a '64 rather than a '65, but whatever. How do you observe the overheating? Is the temperature gauge showing hot? Or is it boiling over? Both? Does the temperature slowly climb, does it run hot almost immediately, or is it sudden? What sort of brushhogging are you doing, and how...

    Pressure brake bleeder

I used almost four quarts on my Silverado 2500HD. Note that I changed out the master cylinder and it took nearly a quart just to fill and bench bleed the master.

Smart Phone, stuff everyone knows but me.

First they come out with these newfangled "bicycles" and now folks are riding around in "horseless carriages". I suppose next they'll come out with a mechanical bird you can fly around in! I'll stick with ole Dobbin, thank you. He's never let me down.

    Pressure brake bleeder

Update: As I mentioned earlier, I ordered the Motive Products bleeder with the upgraded aluminum master cylinder adapter. I put it to use yesterday and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Pressure bleeding is definitely the way to go! No more recruiting a reluctant helper to pump the brakes, no...

Drained oil in front axle of my John Deere 6300, now I can't get the filler plug off to refill.

That's easily avoided by purchasing the largest tanks you can buy outright. I've never leased tanks, and I use so little gas I only need to fill them every five to ten years.

Once you get an oxyacetylene rig you'll wonder how you ever got by without it. It's an absolutely essential tool for working on old iron.
