    6V Battery Recommendations?

I know this post is ancient, but still a good question. I'm a swap to 12v and be done kinda guy, but if I had to have a 6V I see Fleetpride has a Group 1 6V Deka for $139. I think Deka/East Penn makes some very good batteries. I might also look at a 6V golf cart battery, but you would...

1950-51 8N whim purchase **OH BOY! IM IN TROUBLE**

Point 1. If I did a new tank I would do a new valve and hardline to the carb with it. Then it's all new to the carb, no rust to worry about.

1950-51 8N whim purchase **OH BOY! IM IN TROUBLE**

Compression numbers don't seem that bad. Sounds like tank, valve, and new fuel line is a start-get clean reliable fuel to the carb. Probably should rebuild the original carb, the aftermarkets are not held in high regard. What is beyond repair on the original carb?

    Will she start?

That is strange. The Dowden foot feed operates by setting a base throttle with the hand lever and then the foot pulls it further back to speed up. See post 25. So the foot is connected to the throttle and the loop is on the hand lever. This one when you push the clutch the loop moves forward...

    1939 Ford 9N won’t start(video)

That's not "not turning over". That is not starting. Is it getting spark? If it is, is it getting fuel? Probably 1 of those 2 things.

In search for a carb for my ford 8n

I sold 2 cores to a guy on Ebay "928nt_60". Can't speak for performance on his finished work but they look nice and he knew a whole lot about them. He has 100% feedback. https://www.ebay.com/itm/397778511222

    value of 8n/9n tractors

Probably could have bought both for $1200. The Shermans and tires/wheels are worth more than that alone. Probably could make 1 run and keep both transmissions. Sounds like a good deal.

Exhaust pipe flange in bad shape

Yep, I just stumbled over one in my garage in Chattanooga, TN that needs a new home.

    value of 8n/9n tractors

Values here are a bit lower than the OP in 2019. I live in Tennessee. In 2025 I bought a good running '50 8N with Sherman and poor tires for $2100. Sold a '44 2N with great rear tires and very nice paint for $1500 but had to work hard to get it. I see average running 8Ns for $1500-2000 (more...

Jubilee backfires and runs like crap when you try to throttle it up

Another vote for bad condenser. If you have a multimeter you can at least test it. There are videos on YouTube on how. Quick story. I did a full bore and everything rebuild on a Kohler K321 in a John Deere 214 mower in 1993. It got where it would not run well with any load. It was very...

    9N V8 Conversion Build

I ended up with a generic Boyd Welding aluminum 5 gal tank (p/n 11006 and add vented cap). It fits without cutting the rear hood brace. I made some “hat brackets” to lower the bottom 1 ¼”. 5 gal is enough for what I do.

Side distributor 8N engine into 2N-governor/throttle hookup?

Just to complete the thought if anybody later searches for this, I put a (late/side distributor) 8N engine in a 2N. The only real issue is the throttle. If you build a device like the left photo, you can overcome the linkage issues. It used an 8N long linkage rod, 8N8915, from there to the...

    9N V8 Conversion Build

That was kind of my thought too. The paint is not so bad as to be rusted away. I'm going to leave it at least another year and see what kind of comments I get. I went to 2 shows last Fall. Went on the tractor drive Friday of the first show but it rained the next day of the show so nobody...

    9N V8 Conversion Build

I enjoyed the 2N until I went on a tractor ride in 2024. Just did not have the right gear and it seemed to rev high. So I bought an 8N with a Sherman combination transmission. Originally was just going to pull/swap that but an 8N has many advantages over a 9N or 2N-another gear, better...

    Rest-O-Ride seat help

I went to a tractor show over the last weekend. Part of it was a tractor ride of about 10 miles. The rebuilt seat did very well. Thank you all for your advice.
