JD 5303
I checked the oil before running and it was fine. Neither the journal or the bearing show signs of heat. They are both shiny silver and smooth as glass. Maybe the piston busted? Dealer is coming tomorrow to haul it out the field and do an autopsy. Anyone have a sense of how much this will...- Marklemaster

I was on flat ground for an hour before the event. The fluids had just been changed a couple of days before by the dealer. The grass was fairly low and no lunging...it wasn't working hard at all. I've been around tractors for a long time and it was the craziest thing I've ever seen. Glad none...- Marklemaster

I have a JD 5303 2007 with 71 hours...just bought it from a dealer in Mt Vernon, Ohio. I was brush hogging with a JD mx6 cutter when a connecting rod blew through both sides of the block. Anyone ever have this issue?- Marklemaster

I bought a used 5303 from a dealer last week with 71 hours on it and was brushing today and the EXACT same thing happened to me. Both sides blew. I know your post is old but did JD say what went wrong? Mine was just serviced by the dealer and was running just fine. I was cutting on flat ground...- Marklemaster
