need help with Cockshutt 30 transmission assembly

I"ll complete this thread by describing my ultimate repair. I decided to split the tractor instead of drilling and taping as I am not that good at it. You don"t have to separate the tractor that much. I took the lock nuts off the studs in the trans and put the nuts back on the first couple...

need help with Cockshutt 30 transmission assembly

Mike, I did remove the creeper case cover to look inside. The creeper case has a hump where the end of the shaft is, basically it covers the end so you can"t get at it. Looks like the key is sandwiched between the two cases and to do it like they wanted at the factory, I"d have to split the...

Here is a pic of the key that I think goes on the end of the shaft somehow.

need help with Cockshutt 30 transmission assembly

When I restored my Cockshutt 30 last year I screwed up. I split the creeper gear case from the transmission in order to install the live power take off shaft into the creeper gear box. (I converted a standard pto tractor to live power take off). Those parts went in fine. I bolted the creeper...

need a camshaft for F162 continental engine

I have a broken cam on my F162 continental engine. The people I have called for parts say it"s discontinued, or obsolete, so time to look for a salvage one I guess. Anybody have an old engine that they are parting out? My limited research tells me the F162 was used in Massey tractors 101 JR...

do I have to remove crankshaft gear to remove crank on F162

Just to complete this thread, I had a 2 jaw puller and took some 38 inch bolts and pulled the crank gear off the crank. Then removed 2 pieces, one being the washer with holes to align with pins in the block. The gear was not that tight, came easy with the puller. Thanks for the advice.

buttoning up my E3 project. need some assistance

Re: your generator not charging, I think you'll be fine for the parade. I ran mine for 20 -30 minutes at a time without a charging generator when I first got mine going, and never had a problem. I expect on a fully charged battery, you could run the engine at one third throttle for a couple...

buttoning up my E3 project. need some assistance

Re; the carb adjustment--- my 30 manual says the high speed jet (big one at end of carb) performs best at 1 to 1 and three eighths open. So I"d change that. The idle adjustment screw should work at 1.5 turns, I think mine is set at 1 turn. Re: timing---are you sure you have no. 1 cylinder on...

do I have to remove crankshaft gear to remove crank on F162

Cockshutt 540 with the F162 continental engine. I have removed the connecting rods and the main bearing caps. I want to remove the crankshaft but when I lift it, something is holding it from coming up at the front of the engine. In the parts book I see some kind of thrust washer and pin in the...

    E3 rear rims.

Chris, I have both style rims you describe, the flat center style and the angle center style, both for the adjustable wheels. I"m 99 per cent sure the center piece of the wheel will fit both, but I will double check. Can"t do it today, will try and find time tomorrow.

    E3 rear rims.

Chris, the original rims on my 1948 CK 30 measure only 9 inches wide with the tires off, that is the inside measurement from bead lip to bead lip. I installed new 11.2 x 38 rear tires on them and they fit real nice. Actually, the rims had 12.4x38 tires on them and they fit nice too. The key...

    Will Cockshutt 30 wheels fit a CK40 or CK570?

I"ve got a pair of decent 38 inch rear tires on Cockshutt 30 rims, the kind with the steel wheel disc that bolts to rectangular pieces on the rims and allows many different tread widths, 9 hole centers, not the early 30 6 hole. Will the wheels swap onto a Cockshutt 40 or Cockshutt 570?
