Just Wanted To Stop By And Say Thanks!

Just as the subject line states, I wanted to pop in to express my gratitude for all the guidance I received this past winter in get my 8N up and running. Every time I go to start her I have complete confidence she will fire up even before the first crank has followed through, which in turn makes...

    Always a glutton for punishment

Nice find, Lawson! Looks a lot like one I had operated countless times when I dispatched for an expediting company many years ago.

    Newbie with a new toy!

Correct but he could start with a smaller drill bit to accommodate the extractor first. I suppose the left handed bit would act somewhat in the same way, except no taper for force, which might be a good thing with a carb. I too like the oven idea...gonna have to remember that. Good Luck with...

    Newbie with a new toy!

Congrats on getting the engine to break free! In regards to the jet, if you end up deciding to try and drill it out what about trying the oven trick along with an easy out extractor first?

    Swapping PTO Soon

Tanxs, HF. Yeah there wasn't any on the old one, nor was there any on the inspection plate gasket, so unless it was suggested otherwise I planned on going without on both. Fixing leaks was my main goal when I started this project and hoped to get this right in just one go. As such I figured it...

    Swapping PTO Soon

OK, DB...Thanks for the reply. So no sealant on PTO or Inspection Plate gasket I assume? The bolts for the pump were cleaned of all oil residue before I put them back in. I will pull each bolt individually, confirm they are still clean and dry and then replace with sealant moving on to the next...

    Swapping PTO Soon

Man, you weren't kidding, Bruce! I accomplished reinstalling the pump on my own by carefully using a floor jack, but I can see how another set of eyes/hands (or at the very least a 3rd arm) would have made it easier. Lining the rod up with the aid of a screw driver while at the same time sliding...

    Swapping PTO Soon

Hmm, well I guess I'll have another look then. Being that that plunger would also have shot out towards me it too is likely to be on the floor. I searched all over the net trying to find a breakdown of that style valve to no avail. Heck, I was only able to find one that was photo'd still in the...

    Swapping PTO Soon

Quick question...so while removing the safety valve today I noticed the cotter key in the end of it was going to hit the control arm below it, so being that I am replacing the valve anyways I proceeded to just pull the pin out for clearance. What I didn't expect was a projectile to come shooting...

    Swapping PTO Soon

So the PTO and ORC finally arrived today, but now I am waiting on gaskets before I can reassembly things. Meanwhile I recall Bruce recommending some bench work for the pump (probably need parts for that too...I'll have to reread the post). I didn't block the front and jack the back when dropping...
