    4020D light problem.

If it has a 24 volt system, there is a small ground cable on the clutch side battery that goes to the side of the transmission case. Sometimes it will corrode or burn off, and will cause all kinds of problems like you're having.

removal of crud from engine water jacket

Use lye and cold! water. Stop up any ports or flanges to prevent leakage, but leave an open top hole. We have Red Devil brand lye around here, but probably any lye is suitable. Mix it to thin paste/liquid, pour it in slowly! and stand back. It will get really hot and maybe spatter when it starts...

    Isn't it incredible.

Lived in Schenectady, NY. for a few years. It was 78 or 79 I think and it never got above 0 degrees for 16 days straight, even during the daytime. I had a 1962 Jeep Utility Wagon with the flathead 226ci. Super Hurricane engine. I had to choke it, pump the pi$$ out of the gas pedal, and it would...

    Answering Posts

I gotta be doing something wrong. When I used to answer someone's post, my reply would go to the guy's subject and be under the last guy's reply. Now, my answer ends up as a new post, nowhere near the original guy's post. They claim to be making changes to the site or the website, but I can't...

    BCS Tillers

Hello mens. Does anyone know about BCS Tillers? My mid 60's Troy Bilt is just about shot and I've heard some good things about the BCS. Where are they made, are they durable, are parts available, etc. I don't want an MTD piece of $hit! Thanks.

    battery longevity:Leaky boot

I bought a new Sears Blowhard battery for my 1979 Harley. Motorcycle batteries from Sears have only have a 6 month warranty. The battery dies at 5 months. Take the battery back to Sears and tell the kid I need a new one, he gets all excited and gets his paperwork out and starts writing. I tell...

    Re:4230 Starting problem

My brother has a 4430 the same vintage. It s another hard starting SOB. The operator s manual says to pull the throttle back to close and then advance it forward. It s supposed to "set" the governor for starting, whatever that means. It seems to help some in warmer weather but when it s cold...

    Starting Fluid Harmful

Yes it is! You can wash all the oil off the cylinder walls and wreck the rings, or do like some jackasses and keep spraying it in, and hydrolock the engine for awhile, possibly bending a connecting rod. The engine should be turning over and THEN spray the starting fluid into the intake.

    Re:Winter Construction

The OSB of what you speak is not real plywood. It is oriented strand board, thus the OSB. It is just large particles of wood glued together and not very strong. Most nails won t hold it very good or very long. You re better off screwing it down, or using real plywood, especially if you are in a...

    Re:Turbine

Those gas turbine engines both sucked and blew! Chrysler had them in the early sixties in Dodge Dart bodies all painted a copper bronze color, and I believe there were only 50 cars built. Their problems were; very expensive to build, slow acceleration, and no back pressure or compression to slow...
