1209 reel bearings - where to get?

I have a well-used 1207 that I ran for ten years on 14-20 acres when the oem bearings went out on the right side. Got a set from a local bearing supplier, made you-know-where and they didn't make two seasons. Found another 1207 at an aucrion yard that had good roll so I got bearings from a...

    More electrolysis adventures

Been doing some parts the last few weeks and improving my techniques. My H block had rust inside, I tried filling it with vinegar for a few days. That got some of it out but I decided to try electrolysis. A piece of scrap plywood and a few long bolts from the scrap bucket. I soldered the wire to...

    Oliver cables get hot

You can check the resistance of each cable with a multimeter. One probe at each end of the cable according to the polarity. Set at low voltage. Read the meter while it's cranking. Should be very low voltage like less than one. Higher indicates more resistance in the cable.

    H wiring diagram

I remembered I had a new belt from the dealer that I never put on. Has the part number but no code. I measured 23 3/4 around the outside.

    H wiring diagram

I've been waiting for you to chime in on this, Dan. As I recall the battery ground just dropped down the bolt for the fan support bracket. But that would mean the frame to main case and bracket to frame has to carry the ground so must be clean. I'd agree on all the other points. I still have the...

    JD dealer paint

Getting ready to start assembling my '41 H. I don't know much about painting so I'm asking. Should I go with the dealer's paint? Which color, classic or ag and turf green? I'm going to get the main case hot-tanked due to internal crud and rust that I can't sandblast so what about primer? I can...

    Deck wash port on mowers

I have a 48" Husqvarna. I use it. Kind of a pain but pretty effective. I didn't use it the first few seasons I had the mower but got sick of laying on the ground and trying to reach under the deck. It works but takes a good 5-10 minutes and I have to stay in the seat. Never knew for sure how...

Need some help finding a rebuold kit

I needed a kit like that for a similar Cessna pump. A hydraulic shop told me it' olsolere and they couldn't get the kit any longer. I tried another outfit, salesman said it was proprietary to Deere. He couldn't get one but gave me the JD part number and I got it from a dealer. About $60 at the time.

1950 JD A - convert from magneto to distributor?

And don't hold it in one hand and trip the coupling with the other. SUPRISE!!!! It hits the floor and something breaks.

1755 Fresh Overhaul Over Fuel ?

I don't have much experience with diesels but white smoke can indicate a misfire. You should be able to smell the unburned fuel.

    Fuel Tank Rust Removal

If the rust is limited to the bottom I'd suggest EvapoRust. A little expensive but it works well. Get as much loose rust and dirt as you can then put a pipe plug in place of the sediment bowl. Let it soak at least overnight. Catch what you drain, it can be used over and over till it stops...

    Another electrolysis question

I've been doing a few parts in recent weeks. Started out with a piece of 1/8 x 1 steel for the anode and it usually ran about 2 amps I had to clean the goop off every couple of hours as the amps dropped to near zero. Figured surface area might have a lot to do with the process. I bent up a 1/2...

    2000 Gas Battery Size/Group

The starter, at least on the gas models, is the same one used on cars and light trucks. I had to replace mine a few years back and needed it quick to got a reman from a parts store chain. Not as well made but works fine for that little motor. The old one went for core, wish I'd kept it to repair...
