    1550 Electrical System

1550 would have had an alternator and separate regulator. Delco D-10 or 10-D I think.

Is it normal? (shocked by H)

Could be just from moisture too.

    NH Mower Crusher

FIL had the crusher part of that one. He used a COOP mower so ran the crusher behind a tractor. He never had a tedder but the 440 left the swath fluffed. I used it a few seasons when I took over the haying but switched to a MoCo because it was troublesome. Tried to sell it, give it away, finally...

    1948 John Deere A generator/regulator

Closer to the main brush increases the output. It actually borrows from the main to feed more to the fields.

    A hay mowing video.....

Mine had smooth steel rolls. Seemed to work a little better in the morning with dew on the crop. Worked better if the hay fell back from the mower. Tangled and down hay was the worst.

44 model B oil pressure adjustment

I had to adjust my A when I switched from 30 to 15W-40. Took quite a few clicks, more than I expected. Isn't the adjustment just inside a pipe plug?

MF vs New Idea 3 point hay rake

I have a Ford 503 I got from a neighbor for $200, because I needed one. 3-point, PTO driven. Hated it at first and took me a few years to really learn how to make turns. Now I kinda really like it. PTO drive allows you to adjust the reel speed to ground speed.

    Clutch adjusting

That's pretty close to none. As the clutch wears the free play diminishes and if it goes too far the clutch will slip.

    A hay mowing video.....

My father-in-law used a NH crusher like that but never behind the mower as it was intended, only directly on the tractor as a separate operation. Maybe because it didn't match up with his COOP mower. I used it until I got a MoCo. It was pretty troublesome and I couldn't give it away. I...

    Antique Tractor Drive

I have no experience in organizing one. My township sponsored on in 2017 for our bicentennial. I hoped it would be an annual event. Talking to some of those involved there was expense for the two sherrif's department escorts and you should probably look into insurance liability.

    1550 Hydraulic Pump

Some pictures would sure help eliminate the guesswork. I have a factory parts book and there were several different pumps used.

Now would be a good time for me to quit.

I turn 77 Monday, I retired in '14 at 65 and the first five years were good then each year things got worse. Did 1500-1800 bales a year with the wife helping but it's got so hard for me to even lift a bale. My back, hips and shoulders are shot. Even the simplest chores are painful. Turned the...

    1550 Hydraulic Pump

No, the loader valve holds it up. Once it's up the relief has no effect. Did you try testing with a gauge or just guess.

1942 John Deere BO - Part Source?

That's a lot larger than I appeared. You could try cleaning it really good and soldering the holes, or maybe the expandable rubber plugs.

    1948 John Deere A generator/regulator

OK, two-coil. Make sure the contacts are clean and the smaller contact is not stuck. If stuck shut it will give full charge a all times.
