Custom Wood Splitter made with Farmall engine - What model?

Could that have been from a Farmall Combine? My wife is adamant that it was from a Farmall. That's what her father always told her.

Custom Wood Splitter made with Farmall engine - What model?

This was created by my father-in-law around 1975 give or take a few years. He worked for Ford and also farmed a little bit. Had lots of old farm equipment and regularly went to the junk yard to find parts to build stuff. He was an amazing mechanic that could get any kind of engine to run. His...

PTO Clutch will not disengage - starter bump engaged it.

Fixed it!! Sigh. Stupid simple thing that I did not see until today. Apparently while bush hogging some heavy stuff, the front bolt for the left side step or foot rest fell out, then something lodged or pushed against the step and bent it up so the lip of the bracket was resting on the slight...

PTO Clutch will not disengage - starter bump engaged it.

Thank you so much. Making room in the garage right now. Follow-up question: When I bought this a year and half ago, they handed me a very good quality copy reprint of the Operators Manual, 1092614R2. The B&W photos are excellent. Page 43 is where the Engine Clutch section starts. They have a...

PTO Clutch will not disengage - starter bump engaged it.

Dam. I did a copy and paste from the earlier post and didn't get the details. My bad. 1972 International Harvester 354 gas. Sorry about that.

PTO Clutch will not disengage - starter bump engaged it.

Second post on this issue. Made a little progress. [b:8c6371728f]Review[/b:8c6371728f]: This past week I was bush hogging, done for the day I had taken the PTO out of gear. Drove around to the front of the barn and needed to use the bush hog briefly. Pushed clutch down, felt normal, tried to...

1972 IH 354 gas - PTO clutch will not disengage

Fritz, You said it is probably the lining falling off the disc. With the PTO out of gear, can I drive the tractor or will I cause more damage? I'd like to get it in my garage to work on it. If I need to tow it I will. Thank you, Mike

1972 IH 354 gas - PTO clutch will not disengage

That did work. With the engine off I can shift the PTO in or out of gear now. With the PTO out of gear, is it safe to drive it a short distance or will I be causing more damage every time the engine is running? I also talked with a local mechanic about replacing the PTO clutch. He gave a...

1972 IH 354 gas - PTO clutch will not disengage

Finally got out there and did the starter bump and it dropped right in gear. With engine off the PTO shift will fully move in and out now. So, assuming the clutch plate is damaged, can the tractor be driven with the PTO off? I'd like to drive it to my garage to work on it or if it's way...

1972 IH 354 gas - PTO clutch will not disengage

Thank you. I will give this a shot tomorrow. I had hoped for checking adjustments or linkages but the clutch pedal bolts directly to the shaft that enters the transmission. So nothing to adjust?
