Generator versus alternator
My preference is to rebuild the entire electrical system; 12V negative ground, fresh wiring, convert to an alternator with separate electronic regulator, voltmeter, fresh ballast resistor for the ignition system, fresh bulbs... 5 Years of no trouble from the electrics after that! MF35 Generator Not Charging and Wiring Q
First test if Gen is OK: 1) With engine running - idle or fast idle. 2) Voltmeter connected to gen output (reading battery voltage) 3) Temporarilly (5-10 seconds) ground the F terminal on the generator. If the voltage climbs and the engine loads up, the generator is OK. Replace the...- mike837ch
