    JD 317 oil leak

There should be a hose going from the vent on the engine's valve cover (where the mesh filter is inside), and the hose should go up and into the air filter housing so that oil mist coming out should get burned in the engine. Maybe the hose on your engine is disconnected, or dry rotted?

    A tip for all...

Same, but opposite, is true for my battery powered lawn mower on 90+ degree days in the summer. If the battery is too hot, it won't charge until I let it cool for an hour in the AC house. They have a temp sensor inside them.

how much does a charger installation cost?

Isn't it also possible to use a low cost 120 volt plug in charger? Of course, then it takes all night to charge, but so what? Question for Phil- how is drive distance effected when you have to use heat or ac? Does it cut down distance from 250 miles to 100?

    Drill bit thoughts

I once did what gtractorfan did- accidentally bought those piloted bits without looking at them. Then I used them to drill a hole in a refrigerator door (that had a glass window) and when it broke through, it slammed and broke the glass. New door costed $500. I will never use that kind of bit...

    Corian repair

We have a corian counter in our kitchen, installed 15 years ago. After they installed it, they left a big slab of the corian from where they cut out to install the sink. Maybe you can find the slab from yours in the basement? To use as filler material sawdust, after cutting with a circular saw...

    Case 222

The oil in the rear gearbox is not what you need to be looking at. The hydraulic oil that runs the motor would be found in the tank above the front radiator.

    Bob M... your job....

I visited the plant outside Rochester NY in the early '80s. I was told that there had been 50,000 people working there. They had a big parking lot. If you parked your car illegally, in a spot you weren't supposed to, the parking security people would put a lock "boot" on your wheel. So you...

    Old Foreign Car Transmission

I rebuilt a Warner T92 transmission (from a garden tractor, but was also used in Crosley cars). It had been in my basement, which flooded, and got water in the tranny, which rusted it up. I put in in a huge tupperware bucket full of vinegar and after several days I was able to free it up...
