    Points gap on sidemount

Bruce, my stat is installed the way your picture indicates. I had the coolant level right at the top of the core, so I was surprised it puked out. I just mowed for 20 minutes, tractor runs great now. Here is the page of my FO4 that shows the points gap. What would happen if I ran the...

    Points gap on sidemount

Bruce, in your picture thats exactly how I had it installed. It puked a bunch but now I can see the coolant flowing. I am surprised it puked out sice I had just barely covered the core with coolant. Just mowed for 20 minutes, no issues. Here is the picture of what my FO4 says regarding...

    Points gap on sidemount

So the manual is wrong? Also, i installed a 180 degree thermostat with the spring end facing the head. It boiled over, but I saw on other posts here that I have it in the correct orientation. Or do I?

My FO4 manual says .0025, everyone on here says .025. Which is it?

the plugs are more tan than they appear in the pictures. Autolite 437 plugs properly gapped. Just rusty, only a year old.

Black coolant, not smoking, head gasket?

Mine looks exactly like the stuff in the jar from the link hobo posted. Looks like its head gasket time. I have not removed or worked on anything except a new water pump. Ill be installing a 180 degree thermostat when I do the gasket.

Black coolant, not smoking, head gasket?

1950 8n. Not smoking from the exhaust. Has some blowby from the breather. Cylinders are 90-92-90-90 on compression. No coolant in the oil, but it looks like oil or exhaust in the coolant? Tractor starts easily and runs good. I did put a water pump in it about 5 hours ago, but this was going on...

    Brush hog design

Caryc, i do not have the holes in the top deck in order to drop the blades that way. And between the stump jumper and the top deck there is about 1/2" of clearance, i absolutely had to drop it. It was easy to put back on with a floor jack.

    Brush hog design

SO I took the weekend to setup my brush cutter the way it is supposed to be. Its an Andy 500 unit. I set the thing up on 4 jackstands and crawled under and took the stump jumper off so I could put new blades on it. The old ones were BAD. Had to use the torch and some wax to get the blade bolts...

    Carburetor Choke Shaft "Plate"

I opted to leave mine alone when i did the rebuild. The plate has some bends you have to undo to get the shaft out. I would silver solder it and make sure your spring on the plate is in place.

Found and old post hole digger

If you mentioned it, i apparently cant read because i dont see any numbers or measurements. Also, i dont have a drawbar. If you look at the pictures that is an all welded and bolted assembly. Ill figure this out on my own without the pompous crowd chiming in. Sorry i asked at all.

Found and old post hole digger

How would I go about making the lower arms for it? And how long of a top link should i be looking for?

Found and old post hole digger

I am going to take the frame apart with a cutoff wheel and grinder, get some square tubing and make my own frame for it. Should be fun! If anyone has one of the regular post hole diggers, a set of measurements would be appreciated!

Found and old post hole digger

Its a flat tray, looks like it was used to hold some weight. I think i have a game plan to fabricate a frame and a top piece to hold the gearbox and auger vertical.

Found and old post hole digger

Found this too. Looks like some odd side arms and a top link are whats missing.
