    1950 with detroit to 5.9 cummins

    I have a 1950 mfd with a dead detroit and also have a nice running 5.9 without a home. This is to be a working tractor. Any opinions on rebuilding the detroit Or doing the conv. and keeping all detroit parts just in case.

    Ok I guess it's unanimous bad idea. The ignition is electronic, sorry the confusion. My remedy came from the days of a 6volt cockshut combine with starting prob. The 6v batt. was new but did not change any cables so that may be the prob. To answer ? of 8v charger yes I do have one but I guess...

    I have a 2n that has been converted to high energy ignition 6volt system. It wouldn't start with the starter even when turning over adequatly. When pulled to start fired right off. Went to town and got an 8volt bat. and works great. My question is do I need to adjust regulator with 8 volt...
