    Model B Engine Questions

Lynerd, Not sure if you saw it but I sent you a direct message on here about that crankshaft if you have more info on it. Thanks.

    Model B Engine Questions

I'll pull the crank and see if I can get a machine shop to clean it up and if they can source bearings. I talked to mother Deere yesterday and they may have a source for bearings at about 1/4 the cost this site wants so I'm looking down that route. I hate that its this bad--the tractor ran ok...

    Model B Engine Questions

These are the main bearings. They're insert type, not babbits, unless I'm mistaken?

    Model B Engine Questions

Well that stinks. Any recommendations on a supplier for new bearings? I'm not sure I can justify the $1000 this site is asking for them...

    Model B Engine Questions

All, I'm working on a model B (S/N 260763) that I've recently resurrected after it sat for 15+ years. Naturally when I used it to mow the lawn, I had oil leaks everywhere, one of them being from the flywheel side main seal. I've removed the flywheel and the main bearing housing to replace all...

1964 ford 4140 industrial , worth fixing ??? New to tractors

Have you tried removing the starter and cleaning the area where it bolts to the tractor? Maybe you have a ground issue and its arcing to try and find a path to ground. Just something that might be worth checking before buying a whole new starter.

[Humor] John Deere doesn't like my tractor...

Trying to order a part through JD. It asked for my model. I think I made it mad. Edit: I know I don't have to put in a model and can use the old parts site, it just made me chuckle that I put in my model and it said no.

    1010 with unresponsive hydraulics.

I just double checked, and it turns out you do have a later style pump. The changeover was at SN 24695. I have the same service manual; it covers all 1010 Serial Numbers. Here's a picture of that 'block' I was referring to earlier. Your machine will have the style I circled in orange. It...

    1010 with unresponsive hydraulics.

If your S/N is 39237 then that's an early model and it may have a different style pump based on the part diagrams. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the hydraulic flow question, but I might can provide steps for repairing or replacing the pump depending on what you find. If it was my...

    1010 with unresponsive hydraulics.

I've spent more time than I would like to admit in the transmission and hydraulic system on 1010s and a couple things I'd encourage you to consider: 1. The hydraulic pump is live and only runs the power steering and the hydraulics on the back. It doesn't have anything to do with your...

    Restoring G

Check the water outlet pipe for pin holes and it probably wouldn't hurt to replace it. From the picture of the engine it looks like its already missing a few chunks at the lip.

    1010 fender Information request

Lo and behold I found the fenders behind the shed in my parts pile. Here's pictures and an attempt at measurements. Hope this helps. Measurements, in order of pictures, are: W - 33 1/4" H - 26 1/2" Curve depth - 5 1/4" Bottom Plate - 2"

    1952 john deere a questions ??

I've got a 1950 JD A that has petcocks, which function as a compression relief when open, if that's what you're asking about. They're located under the engine in the block, one per cylinder. There's an opening under the engine to reach up and open them in case you need to ever hand start the...

    John Deere B fuel problems

Got a late model B that i'm working on. It wouldn't idle right and was surging really badly, would only run with choke; these forums and other internet searches told me it was the idle passages. Using the proper drill bits (no. 40 and no. 53) I drilled out the passages by hand. Now with the...
