    Quieter muffler on an 861

I swapped out to the baffle muffler. Maybe a little quieter, but not much. I have an old 600 muffler that I think I'm gonna put at the very end of the exhaust pipe. I tried it and the tractor and it sounded great 😄😄

    Quieter muffler on an 861

I got an old 941 Cat trackloader I use some and the muffler ain't got anything much to baffle it and it runs wide open if you run it at all. I used to run it all day and get off with ears ringing 😔. Finally started wearing ear plugs. After that, it was as quiet as a Cadillac 🙂

    Quieter muffler on an 861

Loud used to sound good when I was young...... not so much now 😄

    Quieter muffler on an 861

My 861 has a muffler with no restrictor plate. you can see through it. And it seems a lot louder than my 660. I found an old muffler with a plate in the middle that forces the exhaust to go through the inner liner with small holes in it that will fit the 172 manifold / exhaust pipe. My question...

    8n hydraulic pump question

Wow! That's for the info. I've already drained the oil and it was black as can be so I'm thinking no water contamination. The pump seems to be tight , but the relief valve came out in two pieces. I've replaced or fixed the linkage on the lift cover and am going to get a cylinder and relief valve...

    8n hydraulic pump question

Thanks for the reply. My first time into one of these. The oil I drained out was real thick compared to what I'm putting back. The owner told me he's never changed it and he's had it for decades. The oil I'm going back with is the 90w tractor supply ford oil. I plan to replace the relief...

    8n hydraulic pump question

How can you tell if the pump needs a rebuild? I'm working on one for a neighbor that the lift was weak and out of adjustment . Piston had just the o ring and the cylinder is scratched. The pump seems to be tight with just very very slight sideways movement of the pump pistons. Any thoughts...

8n lift cylinder too bad to use ?

Skip, that might be the path I take. Gonna inform the owner about his options

8n lift cylinder too bad to use ?

To check the condition of the pump without tearing it down

8n lift cylinder too bad to use ?

Working on a 49 8n for a neighbor. Lift was real slow and wouldn't go up all the way and would leak down fast. Cylinder has a fairly deep scratch in the wall. Thought about honing it out. Would I be better off replacing it? And is there a way of the condition of the pump without tearing it down?

Never saw Ford fenders like this?

Your 661 and your 871 probably are correct. The " elephant ear " style fenders on the '55-57s have a tendency to get damaged and are replaced often With the later style "clam shell" fenders

Never saw Ford fenders like this?

Look like the standard hundred series fenders to me.

    5 speed double clutch install

Bern is correct. Your clutch will unbolt from the flywheel as an assembly .

Why do you like your SOS?

Why do you like your SOS?

My Dad had a 7700 with dual power. That worked great with plowing and discing. My 4610 has a synchro mesh with independent PTO . Clutch is smoother than my 5 sp dual clutches. A lot heavier duty too . I guess once you get used to any of them they do good.
