    Thanks for the help. Did manage to find the trouble. Found what looked like wood fibers in the sediment bowl inlet in the tank. ZGood flow now.

    Recently acquired a "red" tractor. I was told it was a 504 Utility, okay, perfect. Went to look at it and , yes it was red and white, BUT it has a shuttle shift. Tried to search for info but not had much luck. There are no reverse gears in the tranny, just the shuttle. S/N is 3226 J W. Can...

    Carb Settings

    AL, got a kit from the local IH dealer, they were very happy to answer any questions I had. Actual rebuild was easy. Set bottom screw at 4 turns out, happy medium. Tried to adjust top screw and nothing happens. Any ideas as to why? Ports are all clean, used spray carb cleaner and air on everything.

    Found an issue with the 460 (seems never ending), usually started faster than I could let go of the button. Today it was flooding out badly. Shut fuel off at tank, Pulled breather off and it was full of gas, turned on fuel, yup, float was stuck, ran straight thru. Getting a carb kit tomorrow...

    The first 2 thermostats were from NAPA, the one I replaced when I first got the tractor was stuck open visibly. Talked to an IH dealer and he said;"should fit and will fit" were 2 different things, so the one in it now is IH specific, 162 - 170 according to the book. Going to be replacing the...

    Temp. Range 460 Farmall

    Can anyone tell me the operating range for a 460? Radiator cleaned, 3 different thermostats, 9 gallons of anti-freeze. Took water pump off, looked okay to me, everything was there, turned freely.
