    Ford 800 3pth won't lift

    There is a hydraulic fluid dipstick on the left side of the tractor (as you are sitting on it) about under the seat area, in front of the rear axle, above the foot rest, (if memory serves). MC134D I think is the correct Ford fluid for the hydraulics (again, memory) HTH, Mike M.

    Everything Bruce said, plus I would make sure the battery cables are 1/0 gauge from battery to solenoid and from solenoid to starter. Also, the ground strap should be a 2 ga braid, as short as practical and grounded to a large bolt on the steering column. Remember, battery cables can go bad...

    801 Power Steering Problem

    Are you sure both PS cylinders are the same diameter? Replacement cylinders come in either 1/2" or 5/8" diameter (chrome)rods. If the tractor has different sizes on each side, that may account for hard steering. Just a guess until more experienced help arrives. Mike M.

    It was 15 degrees in WNY this morning. I got my 4400 utility tractor started and let it warm up while I brushed snow from the cars. After a minute or so, it stalled like it was out of fuel. I discovered ice in the bottom of the fuel filter, so I cleaned out the bowl and filter fairly well...

    Do what others have said first. Since you said it works great after starting, I would also check those items that are only used to start, but not operate the tractor. I would check the battery to solenoid and solenoid to starter connections. They should be clean and tight and 1/0 gauge...

    The solenoid should not be elimiting the current to the starter. Are your cables, battery to solenoid and solenoid to starter new, or at least in good condition, and at least 1/0 gauge? Bad cables sound like the cause of this issue. Mike M.

    62 871 Powermaster no fire

    In addition to other suggestions, make sure the thin copper strap inside the distributor is connected from the points to the wire coming from the coil, and not shorted to ground (there is an isolator that can come loose or break). Mike M.

    I believe they are connected in the 8N, but have been separate since the Jubilee/NAA. If you get lots of water and/or aren't sure how long the fluid has been in the tractor, changing out the fluid is probably a good thing to do.     It's on the underside of the tractor. There are 3 separate hydraulic compartments - I think it's the one almost directly under the hydraulic dipstick (relying on memory - location may be off).
