    New Holland 276

Pickup is driven from the left side of the baler by a shaft that runs to the right hand side of the pickup. It is chain driven on the left hand side and drives the pickup on the right hand side via a chain.

What type of oil for hydraulics on Ford 420 backhoe?

Ford 134D is no longer available and has been replaced by New Holland Ambra Multi G, or if you are close to a CIH dealer you can use Case Akcela Nexplore. Multi G and Nexplore are the same oil and are the 134D replacement

    NH 311 or 320 baler

Stay away from the 320 if it is a first year production. They run at 120 strokes per minute at 540 and like someone else mentioned they run great and will put out the bales, but only run for 10 minutes. Later 320"s were slowed dowm to 105 spm.

    NEW HOLLAND 273 OR 276???

Both are good balers, however the 276 is a higher capacity baler built slightly heavier in the frame, axle, plunger, and other components. Can't address price without seeing balers and knowing what the local market will bear.

Tire sizes for New Holland 270 baler

The 270 baler was originally equipped with a 5:00 x 15 tire on the pickup side and a 6:40 x15 on the bale chamber side.

This baler is driving me crazy!

The fact that you can not obtain a good solid bale confirms my suspicion about hay movement. Lets go back to windrow formation. The more uniform the windrow, and the more uniform the amount of crop flow into the baler, the more uniform the bale shape, bale length, and tying will be. Where crop...

This baler is driving me crazy!

Continual loss of the # 2 twine when all knotter, twine finger, and hay dog adjustments have been checked is a good indication that hay movement in the bale chamber is deflecting the twine as it is being delivered to the knotter. To resolve the concern add restrictors to the sides of the bale...

    NH 277

If I recall the 277 was designed to run at 72 spm. However, all NH balers are designed to operate at 540 rpm will will equal the correct strokes per minute.

    New Holland balers

Stick with the 315. The very first 320's ran at 120 strokes per minute and the feeders flew apart. Later production ran at 105, but still not as reliable as the 315.

    New Holland 276 square baler

55Deere70 is correct. When standing at the back of the baler and looking at the tine bar, move the left hand tines to the right. This enables the left hand tines to take a larger 'bite' of hay and fill the left hand side of the bale.

Setting gap pressure on conditioning rolls

All items mentioned by JMS are correct. NH Haybines are mower conditioners, not crushers. They crimp stems as the pass through the roll lugs. You'll also want to check the roll timing and balance the rolls to reduce uneven gaps between the upper and lower rolls. Balance the rolls first by...
