    It probably just needs a carb kit and a tune up. They are a powerful little engine when they are set up right, they can take a bit of getting right though. UK petrol doesn t make a difference.

    If you still have the fuel shut off, i would try bypassing it and see if that helps. Diaphragm could have gone bad.

    You are right, no water pumps on an R. Could be head gasket, could be manifold gasket. Manifold is inlet, exhaust and water connection to the little engine.

    Evergreen is the only source for gauges that are guaranteed to work and be accurate. However, if you don t have a shutter, you will struggle to get a diesel warm if not working hard.

    Apologies if you know this, but the dipstick should be resting on the opening, not screwed in. Also, its easy to suck some oil out with one of those vacuum oil sucker things, also handy if you want to change the little engine oil and not the big one.

    Wico X questions

    Sorry if this is cheeky, but you will need ground the plug back to the mag or you wont get a spark. X is a good mag, so clean and gapped points should be all you need. Try a wire with a small gap from the mag case, it should jump that ok.
