Literature---Late 1930's Allis Chalmers Tractor Brochure

The only tractor my grandfather ever bought new was a '46 WC. I suppose any tractor was easier on one's back than no tractor. But the brochure's boast that the WC "will save your back" rings a little hollow for me. I guess the one in the brochure at least had a back support. Wonder why later...

    Your money's no good here.

I do the same: pay with card and take what little I can get back, after I've been bilked a % or 2 by the system we have. Of course, I should follow J. Lennon's advice and let it be.

    Your money's no good here.

True. But the money that goes back in our pockets is only a fraction of the money the credit card company charges the merchant. And the merchant most certainly raises its prices at least enough to cover the cost of the credit card transaction. So, if we took the credit card company out of the...

Literature---1992 John Deere "Long Green Line" Brochure Pt. 1 Tractors

Thank you for posting these. I always enjoy perusing them. This time, I found typos: the specs for the 8760 and 8960 list their engines as 7.6l. How much money was spent to generate something with such a goof in it? Oh well.

    Good Tire Gauge?

Thanks, guys. That's excellent info. The Asin does look easy to use. And I will look into some Miltons as possibilities. The Blue Point Astro 3018 looks outstanding! Might put that on my Christmas list and grab one of the others in the interim:-) Neil

Can we have some more tomorrow? After all, I think the official model number is 1031? :-) Neil

    More reflections

As others have mentioned, there are services that will transfer from VHS to DVD for you. It appears legacybox is one. I live in a population center, and we have a handful of local operations, too. That may be the case in populous areas near you. If you have a significant volume of footage to...

    New Michelins

Anyone know why modern tires degrade so much faster than the old ones?

    Is This Social Media?

I agree wholeheartedly. Which puts "social media" in a new light for me - some of it I very much disfavor, but I have very much enjoyed and benefitted from this site for a long time. Neil

    Is This Social Media?

Well, I forgot to mention they've promised me $10 in exchange. That's probably a reasonable tradeoff. Neil

    Is This Social Media?

Filling out a Nielsen survey. Some of the questions involve how much I use/like/depend on "social media." At first, I was inclined to say very little. Then, one of the questions asked which of certain activities I participate in on social media. One activity is "message boards." Got me to...

OT - What Is It/How Is It Used?

Interesting. I guess both of those are possibilities. Thanks, Neil

OT - What Is It/How Is It Used?

Wondering what are the things in the attached pictures, and how do people use them? I found them in a box labeled moving supplies, so I suppose they might be something movers use somehow. Anyone know? Thanks, Neil

Update - Replacing Light Switch with Switch/Receptacle C

Yea, need to get you a better pic. Will try to tackle that tomorrow. Didn't want to leave the Mrs. in the dark this evening (and I'm not looking forward to resetting the clock on the microwave). Thanks, Neil

Update - Replacing Light Switch with Switch/Receptacle C

Hi, guys. Following up on the thread in the link below. When last we spoke, I needed to figure out how many/what wires are inside the box for the light switch. I finally peeked today. As you probably can see in the attached pics, there are four wires coming from the conduit into the box...
