    Water pump 800 Ford

Had the same problem on a spark plug socket on a car. Sockets are 2-4 dollars at Lowe's or Home depot. I bought two and ground them down on a bench grinder. If you put the socket in an electric drill and spin it as you grind it you will get a more even result. Then check with a set of calipers. .

    8n sputtering under load update

I'm on Classic Mode so I'll start over. 50 8N side mount. Tractor started sputtering under load at full throttle while pulling a blade. Normally for this machine it is an indication the points are going. I replace the points and condenser and it wouldn't start. Saw some crud in the fuel bowl...

    8N sputtering under load

Virginia, so not real cold. I agree it may be running lean. In the past eight years of use it has performed well in all weather conditions. This is a new development. I appreciate your input and I considered doing that but think something is causing it to run lean so my gut feeling is solve the...

    8N sputtering under load

50 8N side mount. Tractor started sputtering under load at full throttle while pulling a blade. Normally for this machine it is an indication the points are going. I replace the points and condenser and it wouldn't start. Saw some crud in the fuel bowl so I removed the bowl, cleaned it out and...

    1950 8N light wiring

When I got my 50 8N the wiring was a mess so I rewired the entire machine. I had a few of the wire clips that attach to the hood on the left side. It made sense for me to route all the wiring for the front of the tractor up the left side under the lip of the hood. I wrapped them in a single wire...

    Nice roadside find

Always up for a history lesson. I've ever been versed enough to spot the differences between a 2N and a 9N at a glance. Some PO had riveted two sets of door barrel bolts to the hood. They faced downward with the female part riveted to the grill. That's what I drilled out and plan to spot weld...

    Nice roadside find

The one in front has Ferguson badge on the hood nose. I have the grill from the other.

    Nice roadside find

Stopped and looked at some tractors a gent had lined up on the side of the road. Couple of Farmalls and two 3000 gassers. Way in the back were what looked like two Ns. One was a Ford Ferguson and the other a 9n. He said the 9n was a parts tractor. I asked "a parts tractor for you or anybody?" He...

    3600 Towing capability

Just a quick update. The chipper was about 3900 lbs, a 9" model. No issues with towing from the rear. The worst butt whooping was on me and my wife trying to feed the beast for two days. We both are straddling 60.

    3600 Towing capability

I need to move a chipper around some land I recently cleared of trees. 12" chipper is 4210 lbs. I need to move it about 50 or 60 feet on gently sloped, uneven ground. Should I expect any issues? Will the ball on the stock front grill handle the load or should I stick with the rear drawbar. This...

    2600 lack of steering

Maybe as far as the power steering block. UltradogMN has an excellent DIY here that will guide you through it.

    Battery tray ?

I think every vendor uses the same manufacture. I tried twice from different vendors and they were the same part. I ended up cutting the spot welds from the tray and getting somebody to reweld the tray to the mount/support.

    Ford 3600 Power Steering

I got all my parts from a local CNH dealer. Seals, O rings and springs. CNH is pretty proud of some of those parts so the options are buy what you think you need, buy everything or tear it apart and buy what you need. I've read recently that the CNH website may not be working as before.

    Ford 3600 Power Steering

I will defer to the more experienced members about the specifics. I had to do mine and found two of the springs broken. I also had a broken washer that is labeled a spring and puts tension on the control valve plungers.

    Ford 3600 Power Steering

My guess would be the springs or plungers in the steering control valve are stuck or broke. Would require a tear down and refurbish. There are plenty of threads here and around for guidance.
