    How often do you buy a whole tractor just to get a part?

    I have 4 1940 Cs that I got each cheap as in around $250 each. I did get 2 of them running and the other 2 I parted out or used to get the other 2 to run. That step on the one is nice to have an even nicer for older people like my self that have problems getting on some tractors

    If the carb is stock if I remember right the only adjustment it has is the idle screw which will not do anything for it running and working.

    So are you saying you bored out the sleeves in a wet sleeve engine?? If you did you may have problems with it very soon due to the sleeves being ti thin

    Avery issue.

    I had a spark plug blow out of one of my cars once and the place I took it to just cleaned up the treads and it has been just fine since so you might give that a try if you haven't done so already

    Smoking battery terminal, why?

    Smoke is common if you have poor connection and says things are getting hot. If you still have to old braided cable it maybe just be flat out wore out due to age

    I had to replace the top bearing on my NH850s a number of years ago and I used a chain hoist and the loader on my Ford 841S made it pretty easy to do

    In my area right now if a fire got started good chance it would burn many acres of land before they could stop it. Last fire I heard of burned 10 plus acres before they got it under control

    Ah but which is worse being in a drought and having to worry about idiots lighting fires or having to clean up after floods. Had to deal with floods this spring but now have to worry about fires and if one did start

    Hey at least where you are is wet enough that you could cut hay. I my area if you did cut hay you best have the Fire Dept on call because it would be easy to start a fire

    I too have rebuilt 100s of carb and not just tractor carbs. How ever that being said I have had a few that I could not rebuild and others that I gave up on and put aside for another day and some that I put aside where rebuild-able after they sat a cpu;e months and those I figure got dried out...

    The ball clamp is probably worn or the lock it not holding the ball as tight as it should plus it is good to grease that ball up so it doesn't bind

    Sometimes a carb can be blocked so it is next to impossible to clean out and work. As for oil pressure could well be a bad oil pump or it the oil pump is driven from the distributor that can shear and cause no oil pressure
