    John Deere 813 plow

I scaled the plow and found that it weighed 940 pounds, with a masthead in place. Al, if you want yours back, pm me and we will work it out. Otherwise, I’ll sell it to someone that needs it for what it cost me. Learning more about this, looks like I need some ballast weights on front of...

    John Deere 813 plow

Thanks Al and Mike. I’ll take some yellow paint and put 800 on the hitch so I don’t keep confusing myself and others 😀. I will look closer at the pins and see if I can see evidence of modification.

    John Deere 813 plow

I notice some interesting things regarding hitch and plow. The coupling pins on the 813 plow, appear to be Cat one, while my hitch eyes are Cat 2. Strange that JD would make something like that, when the plow seems specific to the 60 or 70 tractor, as is the 801 hitch? Plow pins are .876”...

    John Deere 813 plow

Well, I went and got it today. Mark-la you are correct. I am guessing that the whole thing is somewhere between 1000 and 1200 pounds. It just barely fit in the trailer that was 52 inches wide by 96 inches long. Trailer handled the weight well. Pretty sure it is an 813 John Deere integral...

    John Deere 813 plow

So today I bought an 813 plow. I have to go get it. Wondering what the weight of the plow would be. Nothing in Owners Manual that I see? I have a small trailer rated at 2000 lbs.

    JD 5 sickle mower restoration

Kind words! Thanks! Yea probably silly to paint it up so nice. But it is gonna get used. And if all the new paint gets scraped away, so be it!

    JD 5 sickle mower restoration

If you meant the WC, I will completely agree! I have more than enough time on a WC to remember how hard they steered and the crazy lever brakes. And the way the transmission growled all the time. And sitting off-center. When my father left that small acreage he left that tractor behind, and...

    JD 5 sickle mower restoration

So, I got the mower running a few days ago. Did a 6 minute video and put it on YouTube. Mounted it to a modern tractor for testing purposes. Also, fuel savings, as I intend to mow about 20 acres with it. And having a nice cab with AC is fun too!

    JD 5 sickle mower restoration

Just for fun, I stopped by local JD dealer and checked on the rivets. The parts guy said they are ‘Obsolete’. But, he was able to check remaining stock availability and found a box of 29 of them 100 miles away. JD Parts network is really good. They deliver daily, so the delivery truck picked...

    JD 5 sickle mower restoration

Dan, That is some really good info. I built two aluminum airplanes, so I understand well how rivets are such good fasteners. I wish I had understood the ledger plate stuff before I had cleaned and painted all the guards! I have not sourced the rivets yet. I need to work on that. Do you...

    JD 5 sickle mower restoration

So I bought a JD-5 mower and overall it isn’t in terrible condition. Working through the machine and mostly blasting and painting. Wear plates all needed replacing and found most of what I needed at Cutting Components in NE. Made my own new pitman arm. Some of the guard ledger plates are...

    John Deere 813 plow

Thanks for the part number. Quick search found none for sale at this time. That is part of my skepticism to buy this plow.

    John Deere 813 plow

My 800 hitch is a cat 2 hitch. Have used it on the 60 for 45 years to pull a 7’ Woods rear blade. It was my snow removal weapon until I got a cab compact tractor. I am just assuming that the JD plow is also cat 2

    John Deere 813 plow

Thanks Al The present owner mentioned that he used an Oliver tractor to pull the plow. I asked him about the masthead and he doesn't have it. If I can even find one they are pricy. But nice knowing that I would need it. Finding an integral plow for the 50-60-70 is not an easy thing to do...

    John Deere 813 plow

To revive this thread I have some additional info. I was not able to buy the plow I showed in Post 1. I have found another one, that I believe to be an 810 with a gauge wheel. I have a complete 800 hitch that I hope to use, not an 801 as I mistakenly said. The plow I am looking at has no...
