    Don't see these often

So, Oliver and Cockshutt had no relationship unit White Motors became involved? Right. They sure were similar tractors earlier on.

    Don't see these often

Will someone explain the relationship between Oliver and Cockshutt. Right out of high school, I went to work on a farm. (1961) The owner had a Black Hawk Diesel. He called it his big deetsul. I think it had a four cylinder that had the starter pedal on the left side that you pushed with you...

    RACOONS IN THE BARN

I used marshmellows for bait. Cats don't like them, but coons do.

Heifer to breed cow timeline question

This is kinda fascinating to me. I'm not a cattle guy, but graduated from Purdue in 1965 with an animal science bs. I don't remember if it was Purdue or some farmer that said that if you breed a heifer to calve at 3 years old, you lose a year on the front, but gain two on at the end. That...

    24D weed killer

Also, you can pasture it to sheep. They love Canada Thistles. They will keep them eaten to ground level. Or if it would work, plant the the ground to pure alfalfa and make hay. It will crowd them out. Alfalfa it good stuff.

    Valve replacement

No flaming from here. I did the same thing on my 961. I used a 16 inch flat file though. It's amazing how "unflat" the top of the deck is/was.

Oddest place you’ve driven farm equipment

Boy, you're bringing back memories. About 1963, I remember walking down Waldron Street - parallel and a block east of Russell all the way from Stadium to the Life Science Building - AKA Lilly Hall of Life Science Building. I lived at 319 West Oak Street and made the trip often. It was over a...

    Rebuilding a 10si alternator.

Years ago, I ran two 10DN's on my 69 Freightliner. I had two of them. One drove off the crank and the other off the accessory drive. Corrosion on the stator windings always got them. Back then, I could buy new 72 amp stators for $10. Not anymore. I still have one in the original box.

Can sos part numbers be cross referenced ?

It's interesting that you mention that. Harold Brock personally told me years ago that the SOS had to many Ford-o-Matic parts in it to be successful. That is why he "quit". I've always wondered which ones they were, but never heard anyone even mention the interchangeability. If you have any...

If I get off my Ferris, the deck will shut off automatically. A switch on the seat does it.

Finding some thing of value that isn't yours how did you handle it? Share your stories.

Boy, I must lead a dull life. I don't remember ever finding anything worth returning. I did find a penny in the Meijer parking lot the other day. I did stop and pick it up. It's in a gallon jar biding it's time until the jar is full.
