    Looking at a mm util-m

I've documented about 25 that I can verify. That means there is probably at least twice that many still left or maybe more. They were built like tanks so they survived well, but they were also very heavy so good for scrap too. I have 2 1/2. One I'm in the middle of restoring, one is on...

Painted Intake and Exhaust Manifolds for '53 UB

I painted with that paint. Where it got real hot, it turned black, but still stayed glossy. Not sure how well it will hold up over time but pleased so far.

JD 300B backhoe hyd leak question

Looks to be coming from inside the bell housing. I was told it had a big leak from the previous owner and there was a puddle on my trailer after bringing it home. Best I can tell it's coming from the hole in the bottom of the bell housing. It's not currently running. Winched it on the...

JD 300B backhoe hyd leak question

I picked up a JD 300B backhoe that developed a large hydraulic leak that appears to be coming from the bell housing. Is there any common failures that would cause this? Hoping for a somewhat easy fix. It's either going to the scrap yard/parts or I'm going to try and fix it. I don't...

    MM r is alive!

R's are known for the axle seals leaking and getting oil on the brakes making them less than effective. Only way to correct it is to pull the axle housings to access the brakes. Replace seals, Clean everything, and either replace brake disks or bake the oil out of them in an oven. Not a hard...

    Minn Moline Identify?

Value depends on a lot of variables. Location and condition probably the biggest 2. Tires often cost as much as the tractor is worth so that is a big factor. I would guess $1500-2500 looking at that picture and condition stated. More or less is quite possible too depending on where you...

question on draining diff, tranny, and amplitorque on m5

I know much of the original oil, in the heavier weights, was originally black. At least for the real old stuff. Not sure what year it got refined more and was the modern color.

    torque tool

I got a wrench and an old socket, add some heat to the wrench and bend into a C shape. Weld the old socket on one end. I quenched it in some oil to give it back some hardness. Done a bunch of engines and so far so good.

I've bought directly off SW automotive. Never had a problem. Every PG gallon I bought was under $100. + reducer/hardener. There is a code for PG1.

    That was a 1st.

For our yearly show, we have a $10 hook fee, all for fun and a ribbon. And still don't make enough money to pay for the sled rental. We still have plenty of hooks to fill an evening. No way we could go for a $6 hook fee or payouts. Guess sleds are expensive around here. Club membership...

    That was a 1st.

Around here, many of the pulls are just for fun. If it's a fair pull they add money to the classes to bring people in. They payback spots based on class size. It's typical to have 30-35 in a class. Payback up to 10th place or even more. Smaller classes say 10 or so they may pay up to 5th...

    hitches angle and thoughts why

As long as the hitch is fixed and can't move, the shape or design of the hitch doesn't matter. Pick up an engineering statics 101 book and start reading. Build your free body diagram and it will be clear. It doesn't matter how you get from point A to point B on the diagram, the resulting...
