    You could be right, Remove the axle and soak vertically, or try the bath http://www.fboerger.com try the restoration link. or google this name there is a great pdf by this same author out there. You have a chance to keep your axle in original condition.

    Lay off the heat or last resort. Disconnect the steering gear, Take out the steering knuckle post, then install a pipe through one side of the axle. This pipe will have an expander on the end to drive the opposite side out. Barring that, remove axle and soak vertically with your choice...

    My chassis serial number and the engine block serial does not have the FAA designate prefixed to the 6 number serial number, Is this common and what does it mean not to have the numbers listed this way.

    Correction; The head cast number is 251172R1 not the previous listed number in the opening post. A high flow head for the block may well be the 355 and 356 cast numbers.
