    Case 310F Dozer

Does anybody know where I can get a new Air Cleaner assembly for a 188D/310F?

    Case 310F

Ok, so I completely rebuilt the engine, installed it, had it running for 5-6 hours, and the thing died out. Turns out that the fuel tank developed some brownish-black sludge that got the first bowl filter clogged. Took it apart, drained the tank, etc. What is the recommended way to clean...

    Case tracks

Does anyone have track pads for a case 310? I have quotes for new ones, but I'm interested in used depending on the condition.

    Case 310F/188D oil from exhaust

That would make sense. If the exhaust valves are staying open, then the unused fuel would get pushed out through the exhaust manifold. This would give me low compression and no power. I thought I adjusted that during the rebuild, but I guess I didn't do it correctly. I will work on that...

    Case 310F/188D oil from exhaust

I just finished rebuilding/installing my 188D motor and, thanks to several people on this forum, I have about 2 1/2 hours of run time on the motor right now. The issue I'm having is that I'm getting a lot of smoke from the exhaust, which is also expelling what appears to be oil. After doing...

Att. Patrick Dwyer and slow cranking 188 diesel

Ok, I have about two hours on it so far and oil pressure, temp, and coolant level are all looking ok. The motor is still exhausting enough oil to cover the hood with drops of oil in a 30 minute run time. 1.) How long should it normally take to burn off the oil used in the rebuild? 2.)...

Att. Patrick Dwyer and slow cranking 188 diesel

Thanks for the tip on bleeding the injectors. After doing that, I started the machine and I ran it for about 50 minutes. Success!! It slowly gained better rpms and running a little smoother over that time. I did see a lot of whitish-gray smoke from the exhaust the entire time, with what...

Att. Patrick Dwyer and slow cranking 188 diesel

I haven't had it running yet, because the cranking has been soooo slow but, we had some success this week. I ordered the new starter from Case and installed that along with chasing the grounding circuit all the way through. The new starter is cranking at suitable rpms now, just like it should...

    Case 188D cranking speed

Well, I tired that, but when I tried to make the last connection, the cable stuck to the battery post. I'm sure it shouldn't do that, right? Where should I ground this whole circuit out to? I have it bolted to one of the starter mounting bolts right now. I would take some pictures to show...

    Case 188D cranking speed

I'll give that a shot. I called the Case dealer and asked about getting a new starter and they said that the 310F OEM was discontinued. I asked about any other models that used the 188D and the salesman offered the starter from the 580C. Any idea if that would do me any better?

    Case 188D cranking speed

I put everything back together for the 12v system and the starter cranked again, but still only at 100 rpms. For a positive ground system, what do I do? The machine is a 1963 or 64, I believe.

    Case 310F

Can anyone tell me what might cause a case 188D to crank slowly? Just rebuilt the motor, rewired the whole thing, new batteries and cables, but it only cranks at 100-130 rpms. Any ideas?

    Case 188D cranking speed

What are some other reasons for slow cranking? The motor is freshly rebuilt and turns relatively easily (for a diesel). It's completely rewired, too. I've been working on starting it for the past month and a half with no luck. I'm thinking that I will either have to find a reliable...

    Case 188D cranking speed

Yes, its a Case 310F crawler. I just tried out the wiring: starter to 1st battery + 1st battery - to 2nd battery + 2nd battery - to ground. The starter just clicked. Any other ideas? I've tried a rebuilt starter and a newer one. no luck.
