Simms oddball inj pump
I found broken inj pump coupler, slot was beat up and snapped off. I snuggd it down and set pump timing. She's been running good. Time to address the disc brakes. So much fun! 713 swing cylinder piston packing 4 1/2" OD
My swing cylinders need to be repacked, it is the style where the piston is two piece and the chevrons are in between along with some phenolic bearing rings one of the rings is stepped it's an oddball. Has anyone had any luck at hydraulic shops in New England thank you- paulchace

Hose connecting swing cylinders???
For the 713 backhoe at the back of the cylinder tubes is a whole where previously some sort of vent was installed. I have just such a machine and I vaguely remember reading where there is a kit available to join each vent hole with a hose. Seems practical, unfortunately my machine had no vent...- paulchace

Thank you for your advice, I appreciate you taking time to help. I bought seal kits from Baum for my 88 2910 w/ 776B loader, they are terrific. I will look at them again. I'm near new bedford, ma. There are a few hydraulic shops nearby. I'll try nh tomorrow Thx!- paulchace

713 swing cylinder disassembly
The nut is about 6" in diameter with 6 notches in it. I found the preferred tool on eBay for 200 bucks I saw a YouTube this a.m. bout a guy who made a wrench from 1/4" Little frail for my liking but he supported the plate nice and allotted a nub for wrenching on. It did the job I ended up...- paulchace

fordson super major with 712 loader power steering kit
is there a kit out there that is better designed to work on this tractor, i have 1 of them and its tough power steering cyl is rubbing on frame even with pivot plate bolted away from engine 1.75" or so......thinking seriously of cutting a bit of frame to accomodate it so it doesnt get ruined... -

Power steering woes
After some disassembly and inspection I found that the operating sleeve was corroded so bad that I could not, up till now, remove the back side ball cup. After the ball cup gets corroded in place it cannot allow the valve spool to move. No way the hydraulic fluid could change direction without... -

Power steering woes
That was my first thought, I double checked Serv manual, all good. Disassembled pump, found a small PC of metal...maybe 2 mm x 3 mm x .5 mm thick inside of inner spring Probly part of dipstick, which is in 2 PC's. Any way pump works I'm taking apart the cylinder now, to test spool action... -

Power steering woes
I installed power steering setup from my 65 FSM onto my 61 FSM. The only thing it does is extend the hydraulic cylinder to its maximum and will not allow me to turn in the direction to retract the cylinder to its minimum length. Does anyone think that there is a problem inside the pump like some... -

I bought arm from Malpas online, England , When I attempted to drop the steering cylinder into the arm tapered hole I found it did not fit. The ball stud is too large for the hole or the hole is the wrong size. I'm thinking the hole is the wrong size because the ball stud fit into the old... -

Front wheel bearings and curious castle nut
New brgs new spindles Castle nut does NOT screw on enough to use Cotter pin, ...both sides. SOOOOOO,. I am clamping castle nut only until the bearings wear?????? Is that how it is designed? Curious
