2020.02.18 "Extra" Pic
This appears to be a 400 series tractor. In the first year of production (1967) the gas tank was oval and located near the control panel (dash)as shown here. A larger rectangular tank was used in subsequent years and located forward near the grille.- pauljac

Identification
This may be a Case 224 articulating tractor. There is a video showing the frame basically as you have. The original paint color appears to be caramel orange similar to what Case used.- pauljac

John Deere 4310
My neighbor has a John Deere 4310 tractor which is 4 wheel drive. While driving down the road yesterday he came to an abrupt stop in front of my driveway. The front axle was locked up. The axle has a dipstick and it was dry. What will be involved to repair this? Can this be done by an individual...- pauljac

You have misread the serial number table. S/N M14064 would indicate your tractor is a 1956. S/N 2M14064 indicates your tractor is a 1964 which is a 6.6 HP. In the fall of 1963, Gravely introduced the high hood which covers the battery. I do not understand why you would have the earlier hood.- pauljac

What did I buy?
Your homemade tractor is based upon a Standard Twin Tractor. Go to google images and enter "Standard Twin Tractor". Look at second row and you will see a factory photo with numbered parts. Gravely 8122 rider broken axle
Your axle may not be broken. The hub is held to the axle with a woodruff key as shown in the diagram above. The axle and hub wear at this interface resulting in a freewheel condition. Is this what happened to yours?- pauljac
