    NOS parts and stuff

There's a retirement auction here in SW Ontario and they have a lot of manuals and old parts for sale It is all on line on the Ontario HiBid site I would post the online link but not sure if that's allowed Just in case someone needed old parts, manuals or even an tractor The border is open...

    Ford 9N front steering problem

Thanks for the suggestions.. The tires have lots of tread so extra weight may be the answer. I will experiment and see how I do.

    Ford 9N front steering problem

I am using a 60inch rotary mower on my Ford 9N but I find turning corners tricky as the front tires slide rather than going around the corner. The front tires are Wrangler truck tires. Would more weight on the front end help with the steering or perhaps different tires ? Looking for...

    Left the key on

I have left the ignition turned on a couple of times and it was the coil that burnt up. Thought I had myself trained but obviously I am a slow learner. Expensive lesson every time. Peter

    Ford 2N No sediment bowl?

After having a great deal of trouble getting a new sediment bowl to seal so it wouldn't leak, I was tempted to go with just an on / off tap and an inline filter. I made one last effort to seal the darned thing and after lots of swearing at it, I think it is sealed. Forgot to turn off the...

    Ford 2N no spark

I have a 9N and sometimes I forget to turn the ignition off when I leave the tractor, then the coil burns up and I have to order a new coil to replace the one that is burned out. An expensive lesson but I am a slow learner. I can appreciate your frustration !! Peter

    sediment bowl repair

I have been trying to deal with the same problem for over a week now. I have the original unit but was cleaning the glass bowl and I managed to drop it on the concrete floor. Of course it broke into small pieces. The glass bowl isn't that expensive but shipping to Canada is $45.00 so I...

    Land Prices

Here in SW Ontario (the far south of Canada) a 3 acre lot, with an unfinished new house, just sold for $900,000.00 Cdn. As you move east towards Toronto the prices jump up and homes in the Toronto, area with postage stamp sized lots, start at $1million No idea how anyone can afford that when...

Traction in mud / soft ground

You are correct that I am not a farmer. Luckily the ground is wet and as the weather isn't that hot here it shouldn't take much to tidy up the mess. I live on a couple of acres in the country and work on occasion doing contract claims work for various insurance companies. Have been semi retired...

Traction in mud / soft ground

Thanks for the input. I intend to run over the area I travelled on with a harrow to try and clean it up a bit. Weather has improved so things are drying up. Peter

Traction in mud / soft ground

I am driving over my neighbours field to get to the Maple Syrup bush but the ground is very muddy .. drainage is poor and there is still ice in the ground. My old Ford 9N has made a couple of ruts all the way around the edge of the field and this exactly what I didn't want to happen as I am...

    Radial tire size

My old 9n has a couple of light truck tires on the front and they are 225 75R 16 .. (Goodyear Wrangler) They work fine although in snow / ice I could use more grip as it is tough to steer because the tires just slide. I think I need more weight on the front. Just now I am considering snow...

    Ford Ranger 4x4

Some years ago I had an Expedition and it had a solenoid on the underside which controlled the switching in and out of 4x4 as the switch was operated. The 4x4 mode would stick in either on or off and I learned to keep the mechanism lubricated and to switch in and out of 4x4 occasionally. The...
