    1948 John Deere B flywheel

Hello all, I am new to the forum and I am currently 90% complete in restoring a 1948 john deere B. Its been a major project and we just got it to fire up! So long story short, the tractor is vibrating pretty bad when it runs so i assume that the flywheel is on in-correctly. I know that the...

    4250 powershift

I think you're right about the double clutch. It makes a little different noise when it makes the shift between those gears. I read somewhere it's not suppose to drop more the 1.5 psi between shifts. Just wondering if anybody thought it would cause an issue? I guess the main thing is the...

    4250 powershift

This message is a reply to an archived post by phoy on June 19, 2016 at 18:13:30. The original subject was "4250 powershift". Finally got around to fixing the tractor that was slipping in odd gears. It ended up the B-hi clutch was toast. Looked like some of the piston seals were leaking...

Thanks for the help Tim. You were exactly right. Had to give up a few times and come back. Then it popped in. Thanks again!

    4250 Reinstalling input pack clutch

I guess I just assumed that you put the planetary into the ring gear first and then put the clutch pack in and tried to align the gears. Is that the correct order? I guess I could put the planetary on the clutch pack first and try to put it in the ring gear together. Not sure how I would...

    4250 Reinstalling input pack clutch

I rebuilt the input planetary clutch on a 4250 powershift. Now I'm trying to put it back in and can't get it to slide in. The planetary gears have the arrows all lined up. I used the high low shaft to help align it with now luck. It looks like it has about a 1/4 inch to go. Am I missing...

    4250 powershift

Had time to pressure check the lube pressures last night. They were as follows: 1=18 2=18 3=18 4=20 5=21 6=20 7=20 8=20 9=20.5 10=19.5 11=20 12=11 13=12 14=11 15=12 The system pressure was pretty consistent around 160. According to the chart would that lead me to believe c1 or c2 is leaking...

    4250 powershift

The trans light doesn't come on at all. If the trans pressure is only running 160 psi should I shim that to get the pressure up first before I test anything else or is 160 an ok range? Tractor has 9300 hours on it so the pump may be wearing down. Thanks for the advice. I will put a gauge back on...

    4250 powershift

Thanks for the chart Tim s. I did go thru the speeds but I was checking the lube pressure and sys pressure. Is that what you think I should be checking? The only big thing I noticed was the pressure drop from 12 thru 15. What should I be looking for in the pressures? Sorry I am kind of new to...

    4250 powershift

Looking for some help on a JD 4250 with powershift trans. 13 and 15 speeds are slipping and maybe 11 but not for sure. I tried the slip test in 7th and 8th but can't stop the tractor in either gear. Tractor pulls down but the brakes won't kill the tractor and it won't stop. The lube pressure...

    4255 Dash or Tach lights

I checked all the fuses yesterday and didn't find anything. I guess I didn't think there were regular light bulbs in there. My tractor ia a 1990. Wouldn't think they would have changed anything. I will check that tomorrow when I get a chance. I appreciate the help.
