Neat Brochure-Chrysler Industrial Power On The Farm

Later 44-6s had the Continental 226ci; distributer through the head. 44-6 was a 5 speed. Mine is a 1947. Good running engine, great sound, no torque. Massey sold them for several years. They were $150 cheaper than the 4cyl.

    Anybody with husker shredder experience?

If the stalks get wet, they will rot and mold. Shredded stalks need to be kept under cover, like in a barn. The stalks could also be blown into a covered forage box and fed as needed. I have a couple of different shredders, and a crew of helpers, but just shred for demos at shows. The actual...

    Oliver 80 surging

I have a late Oliver 80 that runs very well, but.. The governor has a nasty habit of surging. Before it is hot it wants to kill the engine and even at operating temp, it stumbles and "hunts". Had it on a dyno a while back and it would not settle down under load. The dyno operator at the...

    Dearborn-Woods corn picker

I replaced the flaps on the husking bed auger several years ago. Got the parts from the Parts Depot through my IH/Case dealer (Ford/NH) is owned by them. Made for 60bu corn, will probably need the optional snapping bars bolted to the snapping rolls. If you want to see mine working on YouTube...

Strange Issue on buying parts whats your take on it??

Have dealt with General Repair Shop in PA several times. Much quicker on sending antique/reproduction parts than the bill. I thought they forgot about the parts, so I called. Said they were really busy and will send bill when they have time. Eventually it arrived. They make and repair parts...

    IHC planter history

Hi, looks pretty good for its age. Fert. hoppers are first to rot out. My planter looks just like that one. My manual lists it as a 244 checkrow or a 246 power hill drop (1954). Either one can be set to drill. Plates are easy to find. Lincoln has new plastic ones. Original IH plates were...

    Picking a little corn

So..is it a snapper or a husker? Wondering where the husking rolls are. The way the husks are loose on the cobs indicate it is probably a snapper. Ford called it a "Corn Harvester". Many farmers in the southern US preferred to leave the husks on to help protect the cobs from insects. It...

    Increase in horsepower?

So, back in the 70's this is what I did. I had a 44 with MW pistons, 284 cu in. I took the head to a speed shop and they cut the valve seats bigger and installed valves from a 55. Then the "eyebrow" that shrouds the valves was cut back to allow it to breathe better. I cut the intake pipe...

    McCormick Deering PTO binder

If you have the part number you could do a search at the obsolete parts warehouse. It's called The Parts Depot. Then have your IH dealer order it for you, if it is available. I broke a packer finger and my dealer found one there for me. Good luck, Jerry

More Questions on Belle City, 28 X 48, SN 478105

The 6in belt will work just fine. It will hold about 30 horsepower. You're doing demos, not full capacity. Just need a long enough belt so the bundle wagon can slip in between the tractor and the thresher. Pull the wagon to the left side, opposite the drive belt which gives more room anyway...

    sweetcorn plates

Hi, No such plates. There are just plates in many, many variations. Other than guess and miss, if you are buying your seed in bulk, the supplier should have a tag from the bag that lists the correct plastic plates for either JD or IH. 'Took a look at three different varieties of sw cn and all...
