Super A oil pump

Super A oil pump
I am replacing the gasket and relief valve spring on the oil pump on my Super A. When I removed the spring I found 2 small washers in the cover housing where the spring goes in. Do I keep them in or remove them since I am installing a new spring?- Plains Hunter
