IBeam vs Tube for Gantry Crane Stilts

Yes, I was referring to your earlier post. You wouldn't necessarily need cross ties because the thrust force would be resisted by the buttresses. The buttresses would just need to be strong enough to resist that force and be anchored at the base to something also strong enough to resist that...

IBeam vs Tube for Gantry Crane Stilts

Your "transverse stiffeners" could also be called buttresses. Very similar to cathedral design where the arches have a thrust force that is resisted in compression by the buttresses. Provide a triangle shaped support with the vertical leg on the inside. This will resist that compression...

    Hell Bent for Leather

The earliest use of it I know of (I'm not an authority) is in the 2nd Cavalry Regiment's song "Hit the Leather and Ride" from 1903: We're gonna "Hit the Leather and Ride", take it all in our stride, "Hit the Leather and Ride" all the way,-- And though we're glad to know the Infantry's behind...

    LED Shop Lights

I bought those from Home Depot as well. They need a ballast to work, and they say they work with "most" ballasts. I tried them in 4 different fixtures with different ballasts and never got them to work. Lowes has a version that works either with or without ballasts but it's $11/tube or so.

    Clarification of Well Pump Cycling

Rather than a larger tank you could also consider a cycle stop valve. Basically just a constant pressure valve. It wouldn't fix your current problem, but it sure is nice to have constant pressure.

    MF 135 Points Part Number

Thanks Jason, that's exactly what I was looking for. It's apparently not widely disseminated information.

    MF 135 Points Part Number

I have a 1972 MF 135 with a Perkins gas engine. I'd like to be able to buy a set of points at a local auto parts store. The MF part number is 839008M91. NAPA didn't have anything in their system for that and said I needed the actual Delco part number. Does anyone know the Delco (or other...
